General Motors has announced it will end robotaxi development at its Cruise business. The company has invested more than $10 billion in Cruise since 2016. Meanwhile, Waymo is expanding its autonomous taxi service to Miami, Florida from early next year.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has revealed 1 in 4 cars sold in the UK last month were electric, but big discounts are being used to drive this growth.
Chinese automakers are increasing their production of hybrid vehicles for Europe, with 20% growth expected this year and more in the coming years. This is likely due to the fact that the latest EU tariffs of up to 43.5% on Chinese EV imports don’t apply to hybrid vehicles.
Ford uk has asked the UK government to introduce more incentives to encourage electric vehicle purchases. This comes as the backlash grows against the government’s EV targets, requiring EVs to make up 22% of a company’s car sales this year and increasing in the next years.
