Celebrating Success for Utilities Businesswomen

Celebrating Success for Utilities Businesswomen

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the awards ceremony hosted by Great British Businesswoman Series for Businesswomen of the Year 2023 at the Leonardo Royal St Pauls in London.

The awards were held at a stunning venue in the heart of the city teamed with a room full of powerful and inspirational women - the energy throughout the night and the sheer joy being shared across the room was an experience that I'll never forget.

It was an absolute honour to be shortlisted for the Utilities Businesswoman of the Year award for 2023, a real highlight conclusion to a very special year in my career. To be recognised in a final shortlist of inspirational women across the sector was amazing.

The awards categories had over 600 submissions from women across a range of industry sectors, including some famous faces in the nominations and shortlists too.

A huge congratulations to all of the worthy winners on the night!

Sitting in a room full of women and many allies supporting the hard work and success of their colleagues felt really inspiring and watching the winners collect their awards and the emotion of the recognition for the tenacity, drive and success of these individuals was a feeling that I don't think I'll ever forget. I came away from the evening even more motivated and inspired.

On reflection, 2023 was a really exciting year, with lots of opportunity to work with some amazing brands here at Douglas Jackson. The talented individuals that I've had the pleasure of supporting into new roles have already made huge impacts in the businesses that they have joined across Energy, Water, Gas, Renewables, BPO and Tech businesses supporting the Utilities sector.

I also had the opportunity to join WUN - Womens Utilities Network as an advocate for the network which has enabled me to support with events, attending industry-wide conferences and working on the longer term strategy and vision of the network. This has bought so many networking opportunities, but more importantly, has given me another 'tribe' - working closely with some amazing women from the wider sector to deliver some really impressive things.

2024 is already set to be another incredible year and I am so excited to see what opportunities come from the year ahead.

I'm looking forward to continuing to support the Utilities sector to gain diverse and impactful leaders into their organisations. So many of the talented individuals that I supported into new roles last year are already having a huge impact on the businesses that they have joined. From leading licence applications with the regulators to working on transformation programmes to tackle legacy debt and collections challenges for businesses looking to their next phase of customer growth, there are some real success stories being written.

If you're looking for any support and require a burst of fresh leadership across your Customer, Operations, Sales, Debt, Collections, Metering or a subject matter expert to support you in the next phase of business growth and you'd like some advice on how to approach the market, then let's book some time and have a virtual coffee - there's no obligation and I'm happy to support and advise where I can.
