Celebrating Our 5th Year Anniversary!

Celebrating Our 5th Year Anniversary!

Greetings! Here is a brief overview of our firm:

ExecHQ® is a global consulting firm providing senior executives and teams to help our clients in many ways. We provide ExecHQ EXaaS™ (Executives as a Service) to our clients. While some companies think they may need a full-time permanent executive, many now understand that bringing the right executive in on an as-needed basis is more cost-effective and has a higher return on investment.

Since our founding in March 2019, ExecHQ has grown to a dedicated team of over seventy senior executives, supported by over 100 Strategic Alliance Partner Firms, and thousands of other specialized executives and firms through our ExecHQ Labor Clouds™. We refer to our core consulting team executives as Principals, Executive Advisors, or Team Members.  Organizations that ExecHQ has built relationships with and we consider as top-tier solution providers for our clients are referred to as Strategic Alliance Partner Firms (SAPS).

Our clients range from startups to about $500 million in annual revenues. We also do some project-level work for Fortune 1000 clients. Our clients include for-profit, non-profit, M&A firms, family offices, governments, and other organizations.

How We Help Our Clients

Our mission is to help organizations bring the right executives to the table. Many of our clients realize that, through our help, they can implement solutions to mission-critical issues and take advantage of opportunities that arise without always having to hire full-time permanent executives. Our team works in the U.S. and internationally on an as-needed basis, whether full-time interim, part-time (fractional), or on projects.

Our executives have experience in C-Suite Roles, which include:

  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

We help our clients to solve many complex business issues. Our global strategic alliance business partners assist us in areas where we do not have internal expertise, so we can always provide the best solutions to our clients or be the first to tell them when we're not going to be the right fit for their needs.

How We Help Executives

We enable entrepreneurial-minded Executives to do what they do best:  Help organizations be successful. Our financial structure allows our Executive Advisors to retain up to 97% of revenues collected from clients.  Our goal is to have our Executive Advisors work in a fun, entrepreneurial, technology-enabled environment where they have the tools, resources, and community of experts to help them do what is best for their clients and families.

In 2019, ExecHQ co-founded the non-profit organization, the American Association of Executives (ExecAA) https://execaa.com, to provide group health, dental, vision, and ancillary benefit plans and other benefits to executives and their families regardless (including any 1099 worker in the U.S. who does not qualify for an employer-sponsored health plan).  Whether they decide to join ExecHQ. Most business owners, executives, consultants, and others realize that sometimes it's very tough to get top-rated health plan benefits for themselves and their families. Our current plans through UnitedHealthcare, America’s Choice, and Colonial Life provide, in many cases, a good alternative to executives, business owners, and some partnerships who don’t have access to affordable health plans on their own. ExecAA also provides free Executive Perks for their families and more. See benefit details at https://www.execaa.com/benefits/.

How We Help Our Communities

ExecHQ and many of our Executive Advisors donate significant amounts of money or time to the charities, churches, and other organizations we are most passionate about individually. ExecHQ looks for individuals to join our team who are high-integrity leaders, who want to put their families first (and clients/communities a close second). We recruit individuals whom we believe are heavily interested in listening, learning, building relationships, and helping/mentoring others (rather than cold calling, trying to sell consulting services, and just making a buck).

ExecHQ’s History and Why I Started the Firm

My earlier career included seven years with PwC, twelve years as the CFO of a large publicly held educational firm, and several years starting and operating a couple of companies in the real estate, construction, and publishing industries. In 2012, I began serving as a CxO consultant/employee for several excellent organizations. From early 2014 to February 2019, I served as a Senior Partner in a CFO consulting firm with about 240 consulting CFOs in the U.S.

Being a CFO/CxO consultant has been a wonderfully rewarding experience. When you can help clients of all sizes find and implement the best solutions to their challenges, it is an excellent way for highly experienced executives to give back and be trusted as advisors. At the same time, you can also have much more control over your schedule.

After a six-year bout with dementia, my mother passed away in the summer of 2018. Six weeks later, my mother-in-law passed away. Although I am so grateful to have spent much time with family during those times, the result is that my consulting revenues dropped significantly. In February 2019, I received an email from the Managing Partner of the CFO firm (my former firm) informing me that I would be demoted from Senior Partner due to the decline in my revenues from 2017 to 2018. That same day, I hand-delivered my retirement notice and began planning a better way to organize and run an advisory firm. As many of you know, many companies often put earnings and profits ahead of the needs of their people; but not all companies need to be this way.

In March 2019, I decided to create a firm that would be a "family-first" environment, bringing in the best combination of technology, structure, practices, and culture. As a result, I formed ExecHQ on the following foundational principles:

·       We desire a fun, entrepreneurial environment where our executive advisors and their families are our #1 priority and clients are a very close second.

·       Our Executive Advisors own their client relationships and have the autonomy to decide on their billing rates, fee structures, and services provided to clients. As a result, our executive advisors can openly do what is best for their families and always offer the best solutions to their clients. In addition, they can take on work from various sources, even if the work comes through a competitor (we never want to restrict our executives' ability to earn revenue.)

·       At our heart, we firmly believe that we will be more successful by listening, learning, searching for the root cause of issues, helping people, and building relationships. So, we focus on relationship building and helping people rather than trying to sell ourselves, cold-call, hand out fancy color-glossy brochures, or walk people through pushy PowerPoint presentations. Ninety percent or more of our business comes through warm introductions and relationships we have built over time.

·       Our Executive Advisors manage all client relationships and quarterback resources and services for their clients. ExecHQ helps bring in leads and clients to our executive advisors; however, we expect our executive advisors to be highly involved in the client and lead acquisition process. As a result of this substantial involvement, our Executive Advisors retain up to 97% of client revenues, and ExecHQ receives 3% of client revenues, subject to a minimum annual amount.

·       ExecHQ has invested heavily in state-of-the-art technology and building critical relationships with our Strategic Alliance Partner Firms. ExecHQ also reinvests funds to constantly improve tools, processes, and resources that benefit our team of Executive Advisors.

·       ExecHQ focuses on recruiting new Executive Advisors, training, mentoring, coaching, client acquisition and lead-development tools, developing strategic national and regional alliance partner firms, and firm strategy. In addition, we provide core essentials to our team (e.g., software tools, email hosting, training, website presence, legal templates, 24/7 receptionists, and more).

·       Our Executive Advisors can set their schedules and take on as many or few clients as they decide. On some occasions, our executives may temporarily or permanently leave us to so they can take care of health or family needs.

·       Our Executive Advisors can also decide if they want to operate under our brand (ExecHQ), their own brand, or to co-brand. Some of our Executive Advisors have built up their brand over many years before joining ExecHQ, and it may be preferable for some to continue to work under their existing brand and be a part of the ExecHQ alliance. About 90% or more of our Executive Advisors operate under the ExecHQ brand.

·       Although each Executive Advisor is heavily involved in bringing leads & clients through a relationship-building process, ExecHQ helps in several ways by providing:

•                     An array of tools, techniques, training, support, and supplemental lead generation. For example, we provide extensive training and coaching on network building, lead generation, client acquisition, and related tools.

•                     Leads from various sources, including strategic alliance partner firms, websites, and social media.

•                     Access to large-group health, dental, vision, and ancillary benefit plans (in the continental U.S. only for now).

•                     Perks program with discounts on travel, hotels, events, products and services.

There are opportunities to work with other consultants within the firm on client projects, and incentives for executive consultants to bring leads and new business to the firm.

Our Strategic Alliance Partner Firms

ExecHQ has formed a large and growing network of Strategic Alliance Partner Firms (SAPFs) who work on an ongoing basis to provide a) solutions to our clients where we may not have the internal expertise, b) education and updates on various industries, innovations, emerging trends, and c) leads and introductions to their clients and contacts. In addition, we are not afraid to discontinue relationships with SAPFs who no longer provide the best solution for our clients.

Our SAPFs include well-known M&A firms, wealth management firms, technology companies, and other service providers. We also have strong partnerships with CPA firms, law firms, insurance firms, and other business organizations on a national, regional, and local level to provide quick access to these great resources.

Reach out to Us!

You might know of a CEO, board member, or business owner facing some issues, challenges, or opportunities within their organization…and who might be interested in having an exploratory conversation with one of our executive consultants. If so, please email me.

ExecHQ is also looking for entrepreneurial executives who fit in any of three categories:

1.       Individuals who have been highly successful in providing executive-level solutions for many years (e.g., CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CTOs, CMOs, Chief Innovation Officers, and Chief Administrative Officers); individuals who have an entrepreneurial mindset and are skilled in bringing in and retaining their own clients.

2.       Senior executives who have a high level of expertise as full-time employees, who want to build an advisory practice and /or, who want to be more successful in the acquisition and retention of clients.

3.       Executives and other professionals who would prefer to be contacted for work only on an as-needed basis through our ExecHQ Labor Cloud environment. Note: Our ExecHQ labor cloud system provides us with an ability to locate and pay top executives throughout the globe, however we do not post opportunities within that system and communicate potential leads and assignments by email or phone.

The individuals in categories 1 and 2 get first preference on all incoming leads.
