Celebrating 10 Years of Growth in the HubSpot Ecosystem

It's been two and a half years since I joined HubSpot to focus on the company's platform ecosystem, and wow, what a journey it's been!

From my work in #MarTech over the past 12 years — including the infamous marketing technology landscape that grew exponentially from 150 solutions in 2011 to over 7,000 in 2019 — I knew there was tremendous opportunity for open platforms to bring much greater cohesion to martech stacks.

The market has spoken that they want best-of-breed flexibility: according to data from Blissfully, a mid-size company with 251-500 employees has 123 SaaS apps on average. It's up to platforms and app developers to make that experience better for everyone. Collectively, we can rise to that challenge.

Today, I'm thrilled to see the progress that's being made, in the industry as a whole, and at HubSpot in particular, where we've grown tenfold from 35 app partners in 2015 to over 350 in 2019. The best of these integrations not only share data, they also plug into shared automations with Workflow Extensions and embed directly in our UI with CRM Extensions.

Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah have been unwavering in their commitment to HubSpot's platform ecosystem. They embraced an "open means open" philosophy — HubSpot doesn't exclude products that have competitive overlap with our own from building with our APIs or listing in our marketplace. We respect customer choice, recognizing that different businesses have different specialized needs. When all the apps in a stack work together to solve for the customer, that's a tide that lifts everyone.

I've also come to deeply appreciate the incredible synergy between Solutions Partners and App Partners in our ecosystem. From overarching strategy to operational expertise, service providers help customers harness the maximum benefit from their stacks. Increasingly, many Solutions Partners are also developing custom apps and even becoming App Partners as well.

After all, that's what ecosystems are all about — the harmonious interplay between different players who each bring a unique piece to a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Today, we're celebrating the innovation our Solutions Partners and App Partners are bringing to over 68,000 customers worldwide. 2020 is going to be an amazing year in our ecosystem, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with so many remarkable partners.

So happy to see the ecosystem growing! As a fairly new App Partner, we're definitely starting to see the power of the ecosystem! And the more HubSpot partners we get to know, the more amazing it seems to notice how everyone is truly looking to collaborate & help each other "grow better".
