Cast Your Words Like Spells: The Power of Effective Communication

Cast Your Words Like Spells: The Power of Effective Communication

Your words are spells, and as with all magic, you must cast them with intention to be effective. As Author, Paul Levy, so simply put it in his book; "Dispelling Wetiko" - "How do we make a word? We spell it".

Every time you speak, every time you write, every time you text and even every time you think – these are all of your spells! And it’s up to you to choose which ones to cast by choosing your words carefully and intentionally.

Use the power of your mind and language to empower yourself and those around you, instead of casting negative spells on them that zap their energy and limit their potential. Words are important – be intentional about the ones you use!

How you choose to communicate with others has the power to bring you success, but it can also leave you feeling defeated and deflated. Here are 4 tips on how to cast your words like spells, using them intentionally to ensure that your message reaches its intended target in the most positive and effective way possible.

The way you communicate with others can have a big impact on your personal and professional life, especially if you use your words intentionally. Rather than defaulting to the use of words like "should" or "never" or any other limiting word, try replacing them with more positive phrases like "I appreciate you" or "I trust you instead".

#1. Choosing Your Words Wisely

The words we choose can have a profound effect on our lives, and it's important to be intentional about the language we use. By choosing our words wisely, we can create more positive relationships and experiences in our lives. If we speak and listen from a place of understanding and compassion, then any relationship will become stronger.

It's also important to bring awareness to words that we say frequently without thinking of the meaning behind them...

It might seem like an inconsequential thing but using softer language like "wild" instead of "crazy" could make all the difference in someone else's day. Sometimes simply choosing one word over another can transform someone else's life - if only for a moment! Imagine being able to change someone's life every time you communicate by being more mindful of the words you choose to use.

AND it doesn't stop there ... it's not just in our communication with others but in our inner dialogue as well. To learn more about how to reprogram the thoughts in your head, check out this blog post.

#2. Behind Every Word Is a Story

As a society, we've become so used to words like "never" and "should" that we don't even realize their power. These words create limiting beliefs that keep us from truly experiencing our empowerment and sovereignty.

Oftentimes the communication in our own mind is centered around limiting beliefs and we don't even notice it. For example, think about something you "should" do right now ... Go on, take a second and let a thought land.

Did a thought emerge?

What's the story behind that thought about something you "should" do?

I'd be willing to bet that the thought if traced back to the origin stems from a limiting story (more on thought tracing here btw).

Stories are past experiences. Living from old stories is not the way, friends. Instead, you have the power to rewrite your story by shifting your language of "shoulds" to opportunities and choices because in the end; you always have the power to choose and you don't "need" to do anything more nor "should" you do anything that doesn't feel in alignment.

#3. How To Change Negative Self-Talk Into Positive Self-Talk

Negative self-talk can be really harmful, but you can change it! The first step is to catch yourself when you're doing it.

Slow down, and sit with the thought for a moment. What are you really trying to say? Is there a more positive way to say it?

Sometimes, just taking a few deep breaths and allowing yourself time to process can make all the difference. If your thoughts are still negative, consider journaling... journal about what you don't like about the thoughts arising to the surface, journal about any common words/phrases that you say that are centered around limiting beliefs. Journal about any and everything that comes up and ask yourself how you can replace these negative statements for something that serves your highest good instead.

#4. Manifest Your Ideal Reality Through Your Words

The words we use have the power to manifest our reality. Seriously, this is not just some "hippy BS" ... quantum physics teaches us that our inner world reflects outwardly, so it's important to choose the words that represent our inner world carefully.

If we want to create a more positive reality, we have the choice to use words that reflect that intention. For example, instead of using the word "insane", we could use the word "wild". This small change in language can make a big difference in how we see ourselves and the world around us. Or perhaps you struggle with limiting beliefs around money and your language is centered around why you "can't" do XYZ. Try replacing those negative statements around money to that of abundance and opportunity!

Closing

Want to bring more abundance into your life?  What about joy?

Whatever it is you are calling in, please take the time to slow down and be more intentional with the communication in your mind and the words you choose to use when interacting with others.

Remember, words are spells; so cast yours to reflect the life you wish to live.

To a More Fulfilling Life,

Sam
