This week we are focusing on how to podcast, build confidence, and develop an idea into a show. Gain the confidence you need to start creating and leveraging your expertise to attract new opportunities.

1) GROWTH MINDSET

With everyone on screens and scrolling you need to be on-camera ready. However, it isn’t easy to turn the camera around on yourself and hit record. You need to be willing to push yourself beyond your comfort zone, learn the techniques needed to show-up authentically, and have the resources available to look professional.

This week I met with my former colleague Cesar Marin. We never worked together at CNN International. After leaving CNN in 2022, Cesar pivoted shortly after. He says, “through fortune, or misfortune we're now both in front of the camera.” Cesar is Founder of Cultivating Wisdom. We are planning a podcast, but in the meantime here is a bonus episode on his evolution from Television Producer to Founder and On-Camera Personality representing his business and personal brand across social media, events, and podcasting.

In this bonus episode, which was a recording from one of our brainstorming sessions, he offers these tips:

  1. Find your Purpose

  1. Do Comparative Research on Social Media

  2. Be an Authentic Influencer

2) CONFIDENCE

At (ON CAM) Ready, my goal is to provide you with the tips and tricks to help you gain the confidence to create. Right now I edit and produce content for other content creators, but my goal is to build workshops and courses to help professionals navigate social media professionally so they can leverage their channels to attract opportunity and the press. Confidence is KEY to being apart of the scroll vs being sucked into the scroll.

I spoke with Podcast and Film Producer Jordyn Acconcia she moved to Mexico for a better way of life and currently looking for remote production work. Email her if you are looking for a producer! ([email protected])

She has worked with incredible talent and provides this advice for new thought-leaders preparing to host their first video podcast or podcast.

Tips for producers and behind-the-scenes professionals showing-up on-camera

These tips were submitted by Tristan Marchegiani. He’s a radio producer + Broadcast Associate with Sportnset/Sportsnet 590 in Toronto, Canada.

Here is what he had to share, “I recently got my first chance to appear on air, as part of a national broadcast, for a show I produced.

Here are some tips for those who may be getting their first chance soon:

1 - Be prepared. Do your research and have an idea what you want to say, so you’re ready when you are on!

2 - Be Confident! I was admittedly nervous, but faked the confidence as best I can. Give the viewers a reason to want to listen to you

3 - Say Yes to all opportunities! I was supposed to be off work the day I was on air. I filled in for the regular producer, and ended up getting this opportunity. Always make yourself available and the chances will come!”

THANK YOU

Krissy Chin appeared on ANF with Anchor Rick Folbaum, whom I worked with at FOX and CNN. Here is a clip from her appearance. I helped her become on-camera ready by helping her brainstorm her initial pitch, prepare how to structure her talking points, and connected her with a FABULOUS hair and makeup artist in Atlanta. Reach out if you need one!

Reach out to Krissy if you are looking to design your own digital courses!
