Winding down from the Fall HR Conference season, where AI was the talk of the town, I’d like to bring us back to the basics of what matters in the newsletter this month.

When we think about AI, we often associate it with something highly technical and complex. However, like all other technology and tools, it is designed to make our working and personal lives more manageable to free up more time in our days. 

A recent survey conducted by SAP SuccessFactors among 4,000+ employees and managers found that the more AI-literate employees feel, the less fearful they are in using AI at work than their less literate counterparts. The study found that almost 70% of people with high AI literacy expected positive outcomes from using AI at work, compared to 29% of people with low AI literacy.

So, let’s go back to the basics for a bit this month and make AI more approachable, by sharing examples of how AI can drive positive outcomes for employees and HR teams.

Anthropic’s Claude Large Language Model recently released a new vision feature that allows it to view and analyze charts, graphs, and images in addition to text in PDF documents. 

Here is how you get to it:

• Log into your Claude account

• Go to Feature Preview and turn on the Visual PDFs tab

• Choose Claude 3.5 Sonnet as your model

• Upload a PDF for analysis

• Prompt it with something like: “Act as a People Analytics expert, and walk me through this PDF file, to summarize the key takeaways in 5 bullet points,”

This is just one example of ways in which AI can help you with your work. Try this out, and let us know how you like it!
