The bridge between people and machines

The bridge between people and machines

The use of machine learning and AI for employment advice has been on a vertical rise in recent years, from use of the most sophisticated software to some of the most basic machines which use questionnaires to determine personality type.

Without a doubt, careers and employability advice can largely benefit from the use of AI, for reasons such as; the speed and accuracy, the consistency, the predictability and the efficiency of certain processes. However, as it currently stands, AI sacrifices core human elements and reduces decisions to data and logic. Whilst it is brilliant, AI still lacks the essential understanding of the range of unpredictable human emotions and context, therefore failing to apply it when making decisions.

A standout issue in the use of AI for employability is the requirement for large amounts of raw and clean data in order to train the algorithm. This is a delicate process that can be lengthy and extremely costly. Without this, the output would not be the truest reflection of the available employability data, potentially causing a bigger problem in the future.

In today’s Job market, a match based on personality quizzes delivered by a chatbot undermines the abundant opportunities available and can be a great disservice to job seekers. Whilst software simplifies many processes, skilful advisors are still at the heart of effective employability contract delivery. Equip your best people with the best software.
