BREAKING: TikTok Adds Photo Mode for Still Images

  1. Instagram Expands Test of Multiple Links in User Bios

Instagram has expanded access to a new option that allows some creators to add multiple links to their Instagram bio, as a way to boost their business-building potential in the app. The new multiple link option is currently being tested with selected creators in the app. There is an option to add a Facebook Group link, as shown in this example shared by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, as well as an almost infinite number of other URLs. Meta has confirmed that it is testing the new multi-link option, but it provided little detail on the planned roll-out of the tool. Either way, this is without a doubt a valuable addition to drive traffic from your Instagram.

2. Twitter Tests New Pop-Up Prompts to Dissuade Screenshots of Tweets

Twitter is continuing to roll out new features and updates in order to maximise usage and revenue possibilities ahead of Musk's takeover. Twitter’s latest effort on this front is a new prompt which pops up when you go to screenshot a tweet, asking you to either share in the app, or share a link to the tweet instead. As seen in this example, posted by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, Twitter wants to stop users from sharing tweets outside of the app, as it leads to analytics that it can’t track. Tweets, as expected, reach far more people and have far more influence than their active user count would suggest. However, if Twitter cannot quantify this in official figures, the market will have to rely on the data that it has. If Twitter can get more people to share in-app through these new prompts, it could be a big win for the platform, demonstrating that many more users are engaging than it appears.

3. TikTok Adds Photo Mode for Still Images

TikTok has finally retaliated to Instagram's imitation of its original content by introducing a new 'Photo Mode' for still images to the app. Photo Mode pretty much looks exactly like Instagram, with users able to post carousels of still images that users can swipe through in the app. Initially, this feature didn't seem to make a heap of sense on TikTok – but since its release has been used widely and loved by users on the platform. It has opened up new creative options and has birthed hundreds of new TikTok trends.

4. Twitter Launches Updated Professional Account Analytics Tab

Twitter's 'Professional Accounts' option has been updated with a new analytics display that provides an updated overview of your overall account performance. 'The new 'Professional Home display, as shown in this example, offers a quick snapshot of all your key performance stats, such as total tweet impressions, engagement rate, profile visits, and link clicks. It's not a drastic change, but it could prove useful, especially for businesses that are new to the app.
