Best Foot Forward

Best Foot Forward

As we come to the end of the year, it’s very easy to focus on the negatives and challenges faced in 2020 and those still to come in rebuilding our industry. However, despite the odds, we are feeling cautiously optimistic for the future and are remembering to be grateful for the valuable lessons 2020 has taught us!

We are grateful for our friends and family including our ‘work family’ who, despite the devastation of covid-19, have been there for each other like never before. Whether it’s a ‘check in’ phone call, a socially distanced walk or a social media pick me up, we’ve found that people have come together to support each other and formed stronger relationships than ever. We are really looking forward to working within these strengthened relationships next year.

We are grateful for the time to reflect and improve. We’ve taken the time to carefully examine our strengths and weaknesses, using our strengths to get us through this challenging year and make improvements; actually having the time to do the training and qualifications we’ve been promising ourselves for years! We think doing an NVQ in crowd management during a pandemic is the ultimate in optimism!

We are also truely grateful for our good health. It seems so obvious and is said so often but this year we are reminded that good health should not be taken for granted and we must do everything in our power to preserve it! The walks that we have integrated into our daily routines need to stay, our work at home set up and flexible working patterns will still be of benefit to us when we return to the busy onsite schedules we all long for.

We know 2021 will be challenging; we’ve lost many valuable & talented members of our industry to redundancy and other sectors this year. We know that we will be extremely stretched, as postponed events battle to find tenancy time, staffing and resource. Venues, organisers and contractors will need to work more closely than ever before for our mutual benefit. We believe that with our strengthened relationships and combined desire to get back on our feet, we can come together to make our industry stronger than ever. So we’re putting our best foot forward as we look towards a bright and busy 2021!
