Artificial Intelligence: Business Strategies and Applications - UC Berkeley

In late June, I eagerly enrolled in the "Artificial Intelligence: Business Strategies and Applications" program at UC Berkeley Executive Education, Haas School of Business. Although it has just started, it's been an incredibly rewarding, engaging program that goes deep into the foundations and principles of Machine learning & artificial intelligence across many different industries.

Some key highlights for me thus far:

  • AI-Driven Problem Solving: AI aids organizations in solving problems through optimization, prediction, perception, and understanding.

  • Embracing Disruption: Many levels of disruption, looking back at previously impossible things that are now achievable and bringing fundamental changes to certain sectors.

  • Synergistic Human-Machine Partnerships: Aim to develop human-machine partnerships that maximize the strengths of both, driving superior outcomes and innovation.

The program faculty and learning facilitators have all been welcoming, supportive, and engaging.

Massive Disruption Ahead

Many industries are poised to see massive levels of disruption. While much of the AI adoption thus far has focused on optimization and some transformation, the highest levels of disruption will come from reinvention through AI. The optimization phase allowed for experimentation, learning, and even failures, eventually enabling organizations to deliver the same products or services faster and cheaper by automating lower-value repetitive tasks.

Looking at the last image below, after GENAI, we start to see the curve dip. This is an interesting area to focus on, where the idea of adjacency comes into play. Prior technologies and solutions may work better when coupled with this emerging technology.

I'm excited to see how these insights will shape my approach to business and technology moving forward! 🌐✨

Well mentioned Michael Wahl, MBA. Impact of AI goes beyond just Gen-AI! The key is leveraging its full potential across all verticals, not just focusing on the latest trends.
