HemaBites: APC adjustments Ahead

HemaBites: APC adjustments Ahead

HemaSphere’s article processing charges (APCs) will be adjusted ahead. In setting the 2025 APCs for HemaSphere, EHA and our publishing partner Wiley, have taken a strategic and forward-thinking approach to APC setting with the help of external pricing consultants. This approach ensures that APC pricing remains reasonable and also provides long-term sustainability for HemaSphere and EHA, both of which are non-profit - revenues generated support EHA’s to connect hematologists, provide career development, and harmonize hematology education. Despite the forthcoming APC adjustment, HemaSphere’s  APCs are competitively priced within the market.

With Wiley as HemaSphere's 2024+ publisher, many of the journal's authors will benefit from Wiley's extensive transformational agreement and Open Access account network. Authors who are eligible for transformational agreement funding or who receive funding from an agency or institution with a Wiley Open Access Account do not pay directly; the charge is paid by the institution or funder. Please visit Institutional Payments | Wiley for more information. HemaSphere will also continue its partnership with Research4Life, enabling researchers from authors from low- and middle-income countries/locations to receive an automatic waiver or discount.

Finally, we are pleased to highlight that active EHA members will continue to enjoy a 10% discount on APCs as of January 1, 2025. The financial investment for EHA membership is modest but the benefits are extensive. If you are not yet a member and wish to enroll, please click here or contact the EHA Membership Department at [email protected] for more information.

The new APC structure for non-EHA members as of January 1, 2025 is as follows. This is valid through the 2025 calendar year.

  • €2140: Tier 1 - Articles, Review Articles, Guidelines

  • €1290 : Tier 2 - Perspectives, Letters

  • Free   : Tier 3 - Editorials, Comments, HemaTopics, HemaPolicy

  • A 10% discount applies when a co-author of the manuscript is an active EHA member at the time of submission. Authors must mention member status during submission. Offer valid until December 31, 2025

  • APCs for contributions on invitation by the Editors will be waived

On behalf of the entire HemaSphere team, we sincerely look forward to receiving your upcoming manuscripts.
