Almost Timely Giving Tuesday Edition
Not our regular newsletter! It's Giving Tuesday*, and I'm asking for your help with a cause near and dear to me: Baypath Humane Society.
First, a picture to set the stage.
This is Saki. She's my cat; I just got her a month ago from Baypath Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Hopkinton, Massachusetts (my cause of choice). She's about 9 months old and in the finest kitten tradition, is full of crimes. When she's not swatting at my 6 year old dog Gaspar (who is 77 pounds, outweighing her by 10x), she's climbing everywhere and intentionally knocking things off... everywhere.
That's what kittens do.
Saki came from Baypath Humane Society, and they treated her as well as they could given their very limited facilities. That's what I'm asking for your help with today. They're having a capital campaign to rebuild the extremely cramped shelter building they have, expanding it to give animals like Saki more room while they're waiting for their forever homes.
Here's my ask. If you're able...
Baypath is 65% of the way through their capital campaign. You and I and everyone in the Almost Timely community, if we donated all at once, could complete the campaign.
When you do, please write "Chris Penn's Almost Timely Newsletter" in the comments:
Why should you donate? Above and beyond the good karma of helping puppies and kittens, I'm willing to put a little extra in the game.
If we, collectively, finish the Baypath campaign as a community, I'll share with every subscriber to Almost Timely the closest thing I have to an "ultimate" prompt, my metacognition prompt that works with every foundational language model.
Up until now, it's only been accessible to a select few people and organizations. If we raise enough (hence why we need the attribution data above) to complete the campaign, I'll share this trade secret with you.
So what do you say? Shall we make this Giving Tuesday* a win for puppies, kittens, and your AI efforts?
Thank you, and see you on Sunday for the regular newsletter,
Chris
*Giving Tuesday is technically a week from today, but I think it's bone-headed for non-profits to ask people to donate after all the crazy consumerist sales for a week. Consumers don't have discretionary money leftover typically. Why non-profits put themselves at the back of the line is beyond me, so I'm jumping the gun as it were and pretending it's today, AHEAD of the US Thanksgiving holiday.

17hI love your idea that Giving Tuesday needs to be before Thanksgiving! Gonna keep this idea going, non-profits need to be ahead of all the shopping madness.
