Meet Suhas Harischandra Rao, who leads our global Mobile Engineering team (iOS & Android) at Allstate. Inspired by Steve Jobs, his aim is to take the interface of the Allstate Mobile app to the next level.

“In this fast-paced world, omni-channel adds a lot of convenience to the customer experience. Delivering a time-efficient and seamless cross-platform digital marketing experience is what omni-channel is all about”, says Suhas Harishchandra Rao.

He finds the developments in technology intriguing and is on a collaborative mission to help Allstate provide an even better customer experience.

"The Internet of Things helps bring in data, AI helps a user with making faster decisions and the interface makes it as easy and simple as it can be to interact with a platform. For me to achieve this — innovative technological aids, artificial intelligence advancements, and 5G are the key focus areas", adds Rao.

Allstate relies on data-driven decisions and outcomes that truly matter to customers. 

"In terms of data used by AI, I believe IoT is another crucial element that shapes informed decisions. In fact, the heterogeneity in the technological ecosystem, a challenge that the customers face, is compounded by the gaps in the omni-channel customer experience. This can be simplified so that the customer gets a seamless window from start to finish", Rao explains.

'Curious' is how he describes himself. "I try to stay informed through mobile-based internet resources to build my skills and explore the ongoing hot topics related to mobile technology. To stay up to date with current trends, news aggregator — Flipboard is my go-to app. LinkedIn and LinkedIn Learning are also sources that I look into. Apple WWDC — The developer conference and Google I/O conference highlight the new and ongoing technology in the market. CES — The Consumer Electronics Show, Gartner and Forrester Research reports are some of the channels that help keep up with technological advancements. raywenderlich.com, who are pioneers in sharing iOS information, are a great source, too."

Innovation, resilience, and perseverance are qualities that are must needed for anyone looking to make a significant shift.

"I am always eager to explore new technologies. I don't mind the shift in technology like we've seen with .NET to iOS. What usually stops you from taking drastic yet necessary steps, is the fear of failure or comfort of known technology. Steve Jobs inspired me to take that jump. He also inspired me to strive for a higher level of perfection in what you do."

Suhas attributes his success to the support received from the leaders and his team, "I remember the conversations that I had with Chetan Garga, MD and VP, Allstate India and Albert Chang, SVP, Direct and Consumer Engagement Technology and how they made it a point to ask, "How can I help?" and follow-through", he says.
