🔬 Context

We underestimate how much social media and our surrounding are impacting our decision making abilities. During childhood, our parents injected beliefs upon us, and as we grow, we're bombarded with images of seemingly flawless lives and accomplishments of others, leading us to pursue goals that may not align with our true desires. And it doesn't matter how strong or determined you are, you are influenced daily by what you consume and the people you engage with.

However, prioritizing these "cool" goals (on paper) over authentic ones can have detrimental effects on our self-confidence and overall well-being.

🌟 Leader's Talk

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." - Albert Schweitzer

Leadership isn't about following the crowd; it's about charting your own course based on your values and aspirations. When you prioritize goals that are aligned with your authentic self, you inspire others to do the same. True confidence comes from living a life that is true to who you are, not from achieving goals that merely impress others.

➡️ Are you setting goals based on what truly matters to you, or are you chasing after what others deem impressive?

➡️ How can you lead by example and inspire others to pursue authentic goals?

🧬 Your Authentic Performance Coach

After a while of living up to society's standards or pursuing goals solely for external validation can lead to a sense of emptiness and disconnection from your true self.

It becomes instrumental to step back and reflect on what truly matters to you. Consider the goals that excites you and align with your values, rather than those that simply look impressive on paper.

It's important to note that self-confidence stems from living authentically and pursuing goals that resonate with your own desires. By focusing on intentional goals that reflect your true self, you'll not only boost your self-confidence but also experience greater fulfillment and success.

🧠 Boost Your Mindset and Performance

When you align your goals with your true desires and values, you create a sense of authenticity that resonates through every aspect of your life. This alignment fosters confidence because you're no longer trying to live up to someone else's expectations or ideals. Instead, you're being true to yourself, which naturally instills a sense of self-assurance and conviction in your abilities.

Intentional goals, those that are deeply meaningful and aligned with your values, have a profound impact on various aspects of your performance.

Firstly, they enhance resilience, helping you bounce back from setbacks and challenges with greater ease. When your goals are rooted in authenticity, you're more motivated to overcome obstacles because you genuinely believe in the purpose behind your actions.

Moreover, intentional goals lead to less stress because you're not constantly striving to meet external standards or impress others. Instead, you're focused on what truly matters to you, which reduces the pressure to conform to societal expectations. This freedom from unnecessary stress allows you to channel your energy more effectively towards achieving your objectives.

Additionally, intentional goals promote better decision-making. When you're clear about your values and priorities, you can make choices that align with your long-term vision, rather than succumbing to short-term temptations or peer pressure. This clarity of purpose empowers you to make strategic decisions that propel you towards success while maintaining integrity and authenticity.

⚒️ Method

Here is how to create intentional goals :

  1. Reflect on values: Think about what truly matters to you in life—family, career, health, and relationships. Be clear around this.

  2. Visualize your future: Envision a fulfilling life aligned with your values, free from external pressures. Write down your daily routine and the emotions you want to feel.

  3. Assess your current situation: Identify gaps within your current life

  4. Identify Meaningful Goals: Select specific goals that resonate with your values and aspirations.

  5. Create an Action Plan: Break down goals into actionable steps with deadlines to track progress.

  6. Start today: Define small actions you can start taking today. Add it to your calendar and treat it like an important meeting

🤌 Ending Thoughts

In a world where external validation often dictates our actions, it's crucial to stay true to yourself and prioritize goals that align with your authentic desires. By cultivating a mindset of intentionality and pursuing goals that truly matter to you, you'll not only boost your self-confidence but also lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Remember, true success isn't about impressing others; it's about fulfilling yourself.

Great stuff as usual, Lucie Lachaux. For those of us who already have a list of goals we've worked on, I think it would be of tremendous benefit to see which (if any) of those goals are "meaningless" and misaligned with our authentic selves. Having swept those up, there could be much time left to pursue the meaningful ones. Happy weekend!
