2024 Wrapped: Your top workplace trends

2024 Wrapped: Your top workplace trends

Which trends caught your attention this year? Was it the hype around hybrid work models? Or AI tools popping up everywhere from meetings to outsourcing to workforce management?

Hopefully you weren’t distracted by mouse jigglers and could focus on finding, motivating and retaining high-performing people.

The last 12 months in the workplace were a mixed bag. But what really matters is the year ahead. So, as we review 2024’s biggest topics and trends (according to Time Doctor data), we’re looking for what we can learn going into 2025.

Employee retention in a changing world

Almost 2k people downloaded our guide to recognizing, motivating and retaining rockstar employees in 2024. It’s no wonder why. Over 50% of employees are looking for a new job, which has 42% of CEOs concerned about labor shortages. Retention will remain a priority in 2025 - and companies that get recognition right will have the advantage.

How’s your attendance record?

Our most-visited blog post gives a glimpse into managers’ priorities in an unpredictable year. Every month, thousands of people sought an easier answer to attendance tracking in our free templates. They’re a start for managers who struggle with scheduling, absenteeism or timesheets. The next step in 2025 is automating these time-consuming tasks and gaining better workday insights using Time Doctor.

Your time has never been more precious, but…

Companies have been scrambling to restructure their workforce since COVID. In 2024, they finally began to catch up. With some breathing room, they could introduce systems and processes to manage time more effectively. Our time tracking guides - including free Excel templates, downloadable timesheets and time management techniques - were incredibly popular, suggesting that now’s the time to get your time management in order.

…not everyone agrees

2024 wasn’t without its challenges. We saw the unfortunate emergence of work-faking tools like mouse jigglers and keyboard simulators. These pesky pieces of tech mimic activity when an employee is elsewhere. They caused a lot of headaches (and some high-profile layoffs), but they also inspired us to release features to detect work-faking tools and suspicious behavior.
