🤖 Key Insights on AI from the Africa Tech Festival 2024 from the Fireside Chat I attended: Democratizing AI in Africa One of the standout discussions at the festival focused on the potential of AI and its transformative impact across industries, particularly for Africa. Here are some insights that resonated with me: 1️⃣ Representation Matters AI doesn't have to be biased! Ensuring that diverse markets, like Africa, and our often underrepresented gender as women, have representation in AI development is critical to building inclusive technologies that work for everyone. 🌍 2️⃣ Bridging the Digital Divide Making the internet more affordable is a vital step toward enabling more Africans to access the opportunities that come with AI and other digital advancements. 3️⃣ Personal Growth and AI We should approach AI with the mindset of having it as a tool to help us grow. Ask yourself: “What are the use cases of AI that can help me grow in what I do?” I also got to learn a few interesting facts about Alex Okosi, so here is all that tea 😆😆: - He thinks the best impact AI is making currently is in healthcare. He made the point that AI’s ability to accelerate preventative care and cure solutions in healthcare is one of its greatest contributions. This could transform lives across the continent! - His dream AI superpower is the ability to identify which emerging technologies will have the greatest impact so he can invest in them early. Now you know as well, you're welcome 😂 A huge thank you to Alex Okosi for sharing and to Lavina Rao (Ramkissoon) for asking all the important questions! #AfricaTechFestival2024 #Tech #AI #AIusecases #AItechproducts

2 months before the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit to be held in France on 10 & 11 February, where India will be the guest of honour, I attended the France-India AI Summit organised by the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paris this week. Listening to the inspiring presentations on AI's transformative potential was truly a privilege. The discussions were led by distinguished speakers, including H.E. Amb. Jawed Ashraf, Minister Clara Chappaz, Presidential Special Envoy for the AI Summit Ms. Anne Bouverot, and M. Henri Verdier, Ambassador for Digital Affairs of the French Government. As Anne Bouverot pointed out, the summit for action on AI is made up of 3 markers: a foundation to create digital ‘commons’, a coalition for sustainable AI, and equal access to AI. It would enable everyone around the world - major groups and startups, researchers and students - to benefit from it and develop new ideas to realize AI’s full potential while helping to identify its limits. India and France have much to share towards these goals and I look forward to our future cooperation.
