🌍 Analyzing 34 Years of Vegetation Changes in Chandigarh Using Landsat Data 🌿 I'm excited to share the results of my recent study on the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) changes in Chandigarh over the last 34 years. Using Landsat satellite imagery, I focused on a radius of 11 km from the city's center, analyzing data at 5-year intervals. This analysis helps in detecting the shifts in vegetation cover—whether it has increased or decreased over time. By utilizing different bands such as RGB, NIR - R - G, and SWIR - NIR - R, we can clearly observe the impact of urbanization and other factors on the city's green cover. #Geoinformatics #GIS #RemoteSensing #Chandigarh #NDVI #Landsat #EnvironmentalAnalysis #Sustainability #VegetationChange #UrbanPlanning #SpatialAnalysis #DataScience

#30DayMapChallenge | Day 3: Polygons For today's theme of "polygons", here's a map showing the different drive-time service areas for harm reduction programs in Kanawha County, WV. I decided to include a polygon layer for major rivers and lakes because I feel it helps show how many of the state's handful of population centers tend to follow along major rivers. #GIS #Esri #Mapping #HarmReduction #WestVirginia

In the past, #Arboriculture has had little visibility due to the lack of a specific industry code within the ANZSIC industry classification system. That's why we are thrilled to announce the launch of a dedicated data section for the Arboriculture industry in our online Workforce Development Plans! Our team has created a dashboard to provide insights on the Arboriculture workforce and learners by showing occupation data from multiple censuses and enrolment data from the Tertiary Education Commission. This small but important change means that we can accurately represent industry-specific information for workforce planning! 👷♂️🌳 📌 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀: https://bit.ly/4eg4NH7 #newzealand #workforcedevelopment #workforcedevelopmentplan #vocationaleducation #vocationaltraining #arborist #insights

Great to see that the rate of qualified arborists has increased in recent years. In this Muka Tangata quote “Contributing factors for this are meeting the requirements for the Registered Master Arborist programme and the rising demand from local authorities and commercial organisations for registered arborists.” I have to disagree that this is the reason mainly due to the slow uptake of the program and the unwillingness of some authorities and organisations to want to recognise the programme. If we want more qualified arborists and a higher standard of work then we need to grow the Registered Master Arborist programme to become the industry standard. #nzarb

Maybe it was the 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘦 flavored #perkenergy drink I was sipping this morning, or maybe it was that new holiday song in the background—but trees are definitely on my mind! 🌲 Then again, it could also be the meaningful daily conversations I get to have with governments and organizations diving into tree studies, eager to learn how #NCTech can support their efforts.... Either way- Here’s to trees—holiday or otherwise! #TreeTalk #UrbanForestry #AssetManagement
🌲 ‘Tis the season to talk about trees! 🎄 Whether you're debating the merits of a real or fake Christmas tree, trees are undeniably a hot topic right now. But it's not just about the holiday decor—many governments are also paying close attention to trees for asset management, sustainability, and urban planning. At #NCTech, we’re proud to support governments and organizations looking to harness street-level imagery + LiDAR and advanced feature extraction to better understand and manage their tree assets. Our tools allow municipalities to not only locate trees but assess their health, species, and growth conditions in a way that’s accurate and data-driven. From tracking the impact of change on tree health to planning for greener cities, we help local governments make informed, sustainable decisions. 🌍 So, while you’re deciding on your Christmas tree, know that we're helping decision-makers care for the trees that surround us all year round. #TreeTalk #UrbanForestry #AssetManagement #CYA
