As a guest speaker, I had the opportunity to engage with over 52 members of the group. It was incredibly rewarding to witness women being themselves, asking questions from the heart, and actively participating in the discussion. Today we're faced with a crucial question: What's holding us back from reaching our full potential? Is it cultural pressures, limited opportunities, or a mix of societal challenges? It's clear that to empower ourselves, we must first confront and overcome these obstacles. Prioritizing our own growth is key to empowerment. If we don't make ourselves a priority, we can't expect others to do so. This highlights the importance of self-reflection and introspection on our journey toward empowerment. Let's challenge ourselves to identify and break through the barriers that hinder our progress. How should you show up at an association event or conference? I had the privilege of attending the LeadingAge California BOLD Age Annual Conference this week. Jeannee Parker Martin, Kevin Tuuaga, Soua Vang, and so many others orchestrated a remarkable environment that fostered learning, growth, and most importantly, a sense of community among industry professionals. As a sales professional, I've often pondered about the best way to approach these events. What are my priorities? What do I hope to gain? What can I contribute? These questions have led me to some valuable insights over the years. Let me offer three suggestions . . . 1) Focus on making friends. Over the course of the 10 years that I have attended this conference, I've made lifelong friends. Individuals who would share a meal with me, visit me in the hospital if I was sick, and join me in celebrating some of the significant accomplishments of my life. This is the real value of these conferences—the friendships you develop over the years. 2) Make a contribution. Mary Muñoz from Ziegler received the Award of Honor because of her contribution to the association and its members over her long and distinguished career. I was inspired by how she “led to” and worked with the members side by side to elevate the experience of older adults. Yes, she sold her service and earned some business along the way, but not because of her slick one-minute pitch, but because she used her gifts, skills, and abilities to make a contribution to the members of the association. 3) Offer encouragement. Instead of leading with what you do, commend others for their work, their contribution to the industry, and their impact on others' lives. Most people don’t hear those things often enough (thank you, Tiffany Karlin) Play the long game. Invest. Help. Encourage. Support. And then, I think you'll find that good business, the right business, comes as a result.

🍻🏍️ AmeXio-Mediafin Summer Team Building! 🏍️🍻 Our team kicked off the evening with an engaging tour of Brewery Het Anker, where our guide Paul explained the intricate details of the brewing process, culminating in a delightful beer tasting session. 🍺 At some point, it even looked like an episode of "De Mol", with an obvious Bertijn as the "mol" due to his constant remarks about the Stella Brewery, much to the annoyance of Paul.   Next, we enjoyed a group dinner at the brewery's restaurant, savoring delicious main courses made with their own beers. 🍽️   The grand finale was an exhilarating e-dirtbiking race, the smaller sibling of motorsport. Like our good friend Migos would say: "Motorsport, yeah, put that thing in sport skrrt, skrrt." 🏁   Here are some fun parallels between our edirt-biking experience and our teamwork between AmeXio & Mediafin: - Sam drove slowly to carefully analyze everything before making decisions, just as he does in his role as functional analyst. - Isaac joined in the second time window and drove fast, reflecting his desire to see rapid progress in functionalities as product owner. - Ruben, our CEO, led the way by finishing first in both races, just like he leads us at AmeXio. - David let others pass him by initially, only to stay close and occasionally annoy them—much like his approach to reviewing pull requests of project members. He lets them slide, but later returns to challenge the developers when a functionality is under his support.   This event not only brought us closer but also reinforced the strengths of our team dynamics.
