As an institutional digital asset custodian, we welcome the FCA’s updated position on cryptoasset Exchange Traded Notes (ETNs) for professional investors in the UK. We hold an MLR registration with the UK Financial Conduct Authority, an OAM registration in Italy, and are regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) and are the trusted custodian for some of the leading ETP issuers. The role of a custodian in crypto ETPs is pivotal, as they are tasked with securely holding and safeguarding the underlying crypto asset. However, not all third-party custodians are alike, and investors should seek custody partners that adhere to stringent standards. Following the approval of spot bitcoin ETPs in the US in January, we shared some guidance on non-negotiables for ETP issuers when selecting a custodian: -Institutional-Grade Security Measures - Independent Third-Party Custody - Ensuring Regulatory Compliance - Segregated Wallets Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/e4xWpA8z Confused about the different types of ETPs? CoinShares shared more on the different types of ETP - ETF, ETN & ETCs here: https://lnkd.in/egjQVKJR Read the FCA’s updated statement here: https://lnkd.in/dQ77J7nS Tailored for institutional needs, Komainu offers comprehensive third-party digital asset custody solutions crafted to suit the requirements of institutional clients. JPMORGAN OPTIMISTIC FOR ETHEREUM ETF APPROVAL - Banking giant JPMorgan has made clear its belief that the SEC’s decision to serve the Robinhood trading platform a Wells Notice relating to its crypto business… - … should not reduce the chances of eventual #Ethereum ETF approval in the United States. "In our opinion, it does not look like the Wells notice should pose an obstacle to an eventual approval by the SEC of spot Ethereum ETFs” - That said, comments from the bank suggest $ETH ETF approval is unlikely to arrive this month in May. - JPMorgan further added that, if the SEC does choose to deny Ethereum ETF applications, then it is… “is likely to face a legal challenge and eventually lose" - The bank further adds that the SEC’s Wells Notice to Robinhood does not necessarily imply that $ETH is a security in the eyes of the regulator… “Robinhood does not only facilitate trading on Bitcoin and Ethereum but on another 13 tokens also” Image: PYMNTS[dot]com

Ethena Labs and BlackRock are teaming up to launch a Stablecoin 🚨 $UStb will be backed by BlackRock's tokenized Treasuries Fund. This move follows Ethena’s success with USDe, their synthetic dollar, which is now the 5th largest stablecoin w/ a $2.6B circulating supply. But what makes UStb different from other Stablecoins? UStb will invest reserves in BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, which holds U.S. dollars and Treasury bills, offering a new, safer alternative to traditional crypto-backed stablecoins. This is a big deal for a few reasons: 1. RWA Backing: Backed by stable, real-world assets like U.S. Treasuries 2. Risk Mitigation: Safety net for risk mgmt and maintaining peg stability 3. Wider Use Cases: Used as margin collateral on major exchanges like Bybit Will stablecoins accelerate mainstream adoption? Follow me for more insights on crypto and web3.

There are 3 things in the world of blockchain and crypto that I maintain will be the shepherds of the "masses"... 1. Bitcoin - as a store of value, hedge against inflation, and a peer to peer value system. 2. Stablecoins - the ultimate payment and savings tool. 3. Video games - what I believe to be the ultimate consumer application of "Web3" technology.

Options trading on BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF will begin on Tuesday, as confirmed by a Nasdaq spokesperson. The Options Clearing Corporation updated a document signaling the listing of options for the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF on the Nasdaq. The SEC's approval last month and the OCC's recent memo represent the final hurdles for the launch. Nasdaq's Head of ETP Listings also confirmed the listing of options for BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF. The OCC is preparing for the clearance, settlement, and risk management of these options following the CFTC's advisory. The success of spot Bitcoin ETFs on Wall Street, including BlackRock’s IBIT, has been significant this year, with over $27 billion in inflows. Analysts believe that options for spot Bitcoin ETFs could enhance liquidity and provide greater ease, affordability, and safety for investors participating in the Bitcoin market.
