On my way to #Hemesdal #startupexreme I got this fantastic news. Today, Meta and World Resources Institute are launching a global map of tree canopy height at a 1-meter resolution, allowing the detection of single trees at a global scale. In an effort to advance open source forest monitoring, all canopy height data and artificial intelligence models are free and publicly available. We are talking at Hemesdal tomorrow 25th about #AI at a session hosted by Norway and Nordics leading Al development company of Lars Rinnan . At ForestSAT AS we have been developing AI for wildfire prevention and modeling of potential forest fires. I watched the 1st season of the expected 3 part series over the past few days. It starts out interestingly (very) but imo loses its way a bit (ironically that is what can happen when many interconnectedparts increase in complexity). But, these N-Body celestial mechanics problems are something I know a bit about solving (read on for details), so it really caught my interest! Themes of #SETI, #METI, #Alieninvasion, #VR, #AI, #NBody problems, even #MWI gets a mention, so if you know my interests you’ll gather why it suits me! 😜 From Wikipedia: The Three-Body Problem (Chinese: 三体; lit. 'Three-Body') is a story by Chinese science fiction author Liu Cixin, the first novel in the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy. The series portrays a fictional past, present and future wherein Earth encounters an alien civilization from a nearby system of three sun-like stars orbiting one another, a representative example of the three-body problem in orbital mechanics. Now that’s even more interesting for me since I’ve a solution to N-Body problems in Celestial Mechanics, and 3-Body problems are a doodle (as a Gedankan experiment at least)! 😂 Background: Analog computers can solve some problems, eg., N-body problems, that Digital Algorithmic computers cannot (in principle as a Gedanken experiment, not necessarily in engineering practice!). The core notion is to find a naturally occurring analog process (that can be applied to a mechanism) that matches the form of the natural process you’re targeting to predict. The notion is the analog approach works better because you’re using #goedellianinformation in it’s natural form and not translating into the symbolism of #shannoninformation running on a digital algorithmic computer (modelling a problem by symbolism and digital algorithmic computing by operations results in an exponential increase in complexity, and that is not how nature works - so if you can use a natural analog process you avoid the problem)! In microgravity, a CD player that is turned on remains more stable than one that is off. This phenomenon occurs due to the gyroscopic effect generated by the spinning CD. When the CD spins, it creates angular momentum, which resists changes in its orientation. This stabilizing effect helps maintain the CD player’s position and orientation in the absence of gravity. Conversely, when the CD player is off, the lack of angular momentum means it does not benefit from this gyroscopic stability. As a result, it becomes more susceptible to disturbances from small forces, such as air currents or slight movements within the spacecraft.
