But with artificial intelligence expected to take over most coding duties before long, companies now want engineers with expertise in English, psychology and philosophy, who know how to ask the right questions and have excellent critical thinking and communication skills, Argenti says. Since I’m pursuing my career in MSc, I have a course called Strategy Management where we discuss business strategies for different world class companies. Me and my colleagues work on NVIDIA. I came across this interesting article, where the CEO of NVIDIA talks about how AI potentially will decline traditional coding. We need to keep hiring junior engineers. Generative AI isn't replacing the need for junior engineers but merely accelerating the generation of code. This excellent article was recently shared in Brightbeam (thanks Brian Whilte-Starrs) - https://lnkd.in/dsKnXsTP It does a great job of exploring what GenAI can do for engineering teams. But, it does an even better job of explaining the real problem of creating team culture, designing, building and managing systems and the dynamics of a team. It describes great reasons for hiring junior engineers • Writing code is the easiest part of software engineering; the challenges are in managing, understanding, and operating that code. • Software engineering is an apprenticeship industry, where real learning happens through practical, on-the-job experience. • Becoming a competent "senior engineer" generally takes about seven years of continuous practice and learning. It's not just about coding, it's about all of the sociotechnical elements of building a team. • Generative AI tools like ChatGPT can assist with generating example code and repetitive tasks, but the generated code is often unreliable and requires thorough review and adaptation. • Junior engineers are crucial for maintaining a learning and teaching culture within engineering teams and ensuring a steady pipeline of future senior engineers. • All team members can add value even without writing code. Meenakshi Ravisankar - I have uploaded my code regariding the task mentioned in the assignement here https://lnkd.in/dyrNrVDN . It is a private repo as mentioned with giving access to limited users as mentioned in the assignement. I have created an effecient RAG system using semantic chunking using BERT and  Facebook AI Similarity Search (FAISS) for vector space to fetch the best chunk for the prompts. I have trained a text classifcation model for the task of deciding when the RAG pipeline is to be called and when not . For the task of enabling Language model to perform task , I have made it do two task on my behalf - perform matematical calculation using python operators and send email using python smtp library .
