Over the past year, we've encountered a common challenge faced by many startups: attracting and retaining top technical talent. Despite receiving numerous applications, we noticed a trend where candidates would join our team drawn by our innovative use of technology and diversity supplier ecosystem platform, only to become intimidated by the technical complexity of our roadmap. As we progressed with our development milestones, incorporating AI and refining our frontend, we observed a recurring pattern: engineers would initially express interest, but soon feel overwhelmed by the sophistication of our user interface and functionality, expertly crafted by our lead frontend engineer Olena and designer, Bosun.
Recognizing this issue, I turned to the Microsoft Startup program for assistance. With their support, I connected with an advisor—a seasoned solution architect specializing in enterprise-grade software. Seeking to simplify our backend infrastructure and make it more accessible to engineers, I requested an MVP plan. Within two weeks, the advisor delivered a comprehensive proposal leveraging Azure technologies and key APIs, enabling us to create a testing project.
Following this plan, we swiftly attracted a senior backend engineer with extensive experience in supply chain technologies, currently a lead engineer at a unicorn industrial supply chain platform (What are the chances). Placing him on a trial period, we were pleasantly surprised by his professionalism, transparency, and adherence to the architecture outlined by Microsoft. This success story underscores the invaluable support and expertise offered by programs like Microsoft Startup, empowering startups to overcome recruitment challenges and achieve technical excellence. https://lnkd.in/ghPu6ciV
