Incidents of extreme heat are increasing in frequency and intensity, especially for those whose social or economic circumstances put them at greater levels of risk. The Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities (CRMC) is a data-driven process, complemented by a web-based tool and mobile app, which helps communities to evaluate and measure how resilient they are to climate hazards. Using the results, they can identify and implement resilience-building interventions and run additional measurements to track improvements. This report presents the CRMC, with a focus on heatwave resilience, available for use at the community or city neighbourhood scale ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e_Nxbr6q
This is a really well written journal article on the evolution of the CRMC and following in the footsteps of an earlier Keating et al paper https://nhess.copernicus.org/articles/17/77/2017/nhess-17-77-2017.pdf

1wThanks for sharing! A powerful step toward building a future where everyone is better prepared for the impacts of climate change. 🌍💪 While tools like the CRMC are essential for helping communities adapt to rising risks like extreme heat, it’s essential that the significant contributors to climate change are improved to reduce emissions and mitigate global temperature rise. This situation emphasizes a crucial aspect of human behavior: the challenge of aligning economic interests with community well-being. The need for urgent, collective action is clear—not only to adapt to the impacts we face but also to tackle the root causes of climate change.
