Over the past 11 months, we transformed our feed into a destination for enterprise IT leaders and tacticians, driving over 25,000 new followers in that time (only .6%, or 152, of which was paid). If there's interest, I can dive deeper (as some of these seem pretty obvious), but here's some key changes we made: 1. Redirecting posts to personal accounts: Most know that LinkedIn algorithms favor personal posts over company content. To increase visibility, we’ve operationalized supporting team members with custom image assets and copy. By making our employees look good, we were able to leverage their networks and LI’s algorithms to boost our brand presence while positioning our leaders as industry experts. 2. Getting selective: No surprise here, but we’ve become more selective in our company page posts, focusing on quality and relevance. We've focused almost exclusively on "news you can use" and thought-leadership. (This was an adjustment with stakeholders, but we proved the value of being discerning and its made a huge difference). 3. Employee advocacy: Consistent communication, targeted asks, and partner collaboration have enhanced post visibility among employees and our partners. It really is as simple as asking, seriously. 4. Ruthless experimentation: We've continuously tested variables like posting times, link placements, and visuals to optimize engagement and follower growth. Spoiler, Linkedin likes it when you keep convos on... Linkedin. We still have a ways to go in our strategy (improving attribution/tracking, cultivating our platform-first content strategy, and going deep into executive branding), but I could be more excited about the growth we're seeing. A fun friday throwback: Did you know IBM has a company rally song? First performed at the 1964 World Expo in New York, "Ever Onward" encapsulates IBM's commitment to continuous improvement and advancement. The lyrics, written by James Thornton resonate deeply with IBMers: "Upwards we lift our eyes, to the stars above Ever onward, ever climbing higher and higher..." These words echo the pioneering spirit that has defined IBM since its founding in 1911. From meat slicers (yes it's true!) to punch-card machines to mainframe computers, semiconductors, cloud, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence, IBM has consistently demonstrated its ability to evolve and lead in emerging technological landscapes powered by the strength and vision of its people. 🌟 Back to Work 🌟 After an incredible three months spent with my 1.5-year-old son, I'm excited to return to my dear colleagues at IBM iX DACH. My time off has been transformative, offering me the chance to make valuable memories with my son and reflect on life, both personally and professionally. Especially the time outdoors with my son reminded me of the pure curiosity and joy children bring to the world. Toddlers see every moment as an opportunity to explore and learn—qualities that are invaluable in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing digital landscape. ╰☆☆ ɪʙᴍ, ᴀ ᴄᴇɴᴛᴜʀʏ-ᴏʟᴅ ᴄᴏᴍᴘᴀɴʏ ☆☆╮ We're celebrating the centenary of one of the most significant companies in the history of computing, for better or for worse. I previously wrote an article about the early days of this story, which you can find here. 👀 https://lnkd.in/dsf9_2id Today, after the microcomputer revolution and the web revolution, which saw IBM lose its position as a cornerstone company in the computer industry, it's hard to grasp the immense power IBM wielded for decades. I'd like to revisit a classic joke among IBMers about the meaning of the IBM acronym. IBM was one of the first multinationals, and a career there was akin to a cursus honorum in ancient Rome. To advance in the hierarchy, you had to agree to be transferred, first within your own country and then abroad. IBM's executives moved regularly, much like the military, and this analogy is fitting given the company's organizational structure at the time.

Ideation Workshop @ Kyndryl   I am sure most of you have had exhilarating experiences in solving complex problems. At the onset one might be staring at a worthy and qualified problem statement and enumerating through the possible solutions. It gets more interesting once you validate the idea (i.e. pros and cons, test for impact), create a proof of concept (PoC) and eventually do the stakeholder demo. In my opinion, all of this is nothing short of an Adrenalin rush.   Recently, I had the opportunity to co-facilitate an "Ideation workshop" with Sridhar Chitraju (CSri) to enable 35 Kyndryl architects and leaders in their co-creation pursuit. Our goal was to enable the attendees to pick on a formidable problem statement, ideate and define a novel solution for solving the problem. Unlike the past workshops that used Design Thinking, I chose the Kyndryl Vital method for enabling the teams to co-create using the following  tools: 1. Abstract Laddering to frame the problem statement and ensure shared understanding within the team 2. Statement Starters to restate the problem as an invitation for exploration. 3. Concept Poster to define the solution and understand both how it works and why it matters. Also outline novel ideas in the solution. Several Master and Senior Inventors also joined the discussion to share their experiences in patenting ideas and assume the role of a Patent Coach.
