One of us regretting our life choices 😂 In just under 12 months time I’m planning on lining up for a shot at the British Indoor Rowing championships. Partly inspired by Neil_ Ready and his inspirational journey back to health through his erg, and partly by hitting the big 50 next month and looking to mark the year in style. And the first major hurdle to overcome is laying down a bomb proof aerobic base. That means plenty of long, steady, endurance building pieces. (LOTS of 10k 20spm erg pieces for those that know) Which is what my mate Big Pete decided he’d join me doing this morning after declaring he was retiring as a strongman and becoming a born again Hyroxer…. 40 odd minutes later and I think he’s realised just what he might have signed himself up to.😂 Lots of important lessons incoming over the next few months about how quietly actual resilience is built. And the importance of maintaining strong bases to launch sustainable high performance from. But for the moment I’m just enjoying Pete’s dawning realisation about the challenges training for endurance sports are about to bring for him this year.
