It’s easy to forget the great innovation taking place within large companies. As someone that consistently fumbles to find my ticket and wallet on command, AT&T’s work on face-based ticketing and payment options (aka: biometric ticketing and concessions) is really interesting. 💰Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has officially become the highest-grossing tour in history. The total value of tickets sold has exceeded $2 billion for the first time, her team confirmed to The New York Times. As the publication notes, this figure is double the revenue generated by any other concert tour in history. Over 21 months, Swift performed at 149 shows, and more than 10 million people attended. However, the exact amount Swift earned from the Eras Tour remains unknown. The $2 billion figure does not include merchandise sales. Swift set up early merchandise booths in some cities, allowing fans without concert tickets to purchase T-shirts, hoodies, and even Christmas ornaments featuring her branding. Calculating how much ticket resellers profited from the tour is even more challenging. According to StubHub, a ticket resale platform, the Eras Tour was the best-selling tour in the platform’s 20-year history. While the average official ticket price was $204, resale prices soared to an average of nearly $3,000.
