My organization worked to prevent passage of Initiative 2117 and Initiative 2066. We successfully ensured that 2117 failed, but 2066 narrowly passed. With more time, we knew the momentum was swinging our way we could have made sure 2066 failed, too. Here's my interview with KUOW

Check out this guide from Rewiring America to help CBOs and EJ organizations understand the opportunities that exist to shape the implementation of the Home Rebate Programs and maximize the benefits for their communities. #IRA #InflationReductionAct
Director of Implementation Learning and Integration at Rewiring America | Chair of the DC Sustainable Energy Utility Advisory Board | Board Member for Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) | 2021 CELI Fellow
Throughout my journey to advance energy equity and environmental justice, I've learned that programs are designed and implemented better when communities are at the table shaping them. Many of us say that the legacy of the IRA extend long beyond its direct reach. Community-based and environmental justice organizations should be a driving force in the creation of our clean, zero-emissions future. Rewiring America worked with The Greenlining Institute and RMI to develop a guide to help community-based organizations (CBOs) understand how they can shape the design and implementation of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Home Energy Rebate programs. These programs will be implemented at the State level and many states are designing those programs now. How are you helping to shape these programs? How are you making sure that CBOs and EJ organizations are engaged in the process? Would love to hear your answers 👇 https://lnkd.in/eHE2HfMP Sneha Ayyagari Srinidhi Sampath Kumar (she/her/hers)

Our Head of Policy and Communications, Olivia Smalley joined over 60 organisations today in Portcullis House to pitch an inquiry to the new Energy Security and Net Zero Committee. Pitching on behalf of the three UK Heat Pump Trade Bodies (Heat Pump Association (HPA), Ground Source Heat Pump Association and Heat Pump Federation ) we called for an inquiry into the impact of the current high electricity-to-gas price ratio on the decarbonisation of heat, adoption of heat pumps and wider electrification. A major barrier to heat pump adoption is the price of electricity relative to gas, currently about four to one. This imbalance, driven in part by environmental and social obligations (green levies) applied disproportionately to electricity, which fund decarbonisation initiatives, unfairly penalises those early adopters of low-carbon heating. We called on the Committee to look into: 1️⃣ How the current energy pricing framework is affecting the deployment of heat pumps and wider electrification of the economy 2️⃣ Other existing international markets to establish the importance of relative gas and electricity prices in successful heat pump deployment 3️⃣ Policy recommendations and actions to lower electricity costs relative to gas to ensure that the lowest carbon heat is also the lowest cost heat. Thank you to Chair Bill Esterson and Stephen McGinness for organising today's event. We look forward to working with the committee in the coming months.

As anyone involved with the development of projects will know, power has become a topic that can make the viability live or die, quite simply; no power = no project. Hear from Daniel Beynon about how Hydrock can help. #gridconstraints #capacity #power
Daniel Beynon, Hydrock's Regional Director for Wales, explores what can be done to overcome power constraints and enable Wales to thrive. https://lnkd.in/eQRr5Hef #BusinessMatters

This week, I was at the NARUC Summer Policy Summit where I had the privilege of speaking as part of "The Tightrope: Utility CEOs’ Balancing Act" panel alongside Ken Thomas of AARP Florida and Darcie L. H. of California Public Utilities Commission. Utilities across the nation are in a constant balancing act. They're faced with the pressure to meet new policy and customer demands while ensuring reliable power for the future, a resilient grid, equity and affordability. It's a tough needle to thread, but not insurmountable. During my panel, I discussed how Exelon is tackling these challenges head on and building a smarter, stronger, and cleaner energy grid with options that meet customer needs at affordable rates and that prioritize equity in energy. As the nation's largest utility by customer count, our goal is to lead the way in creating resilient and equitable energy systems that benefit everyone in the communities in which we serve. #NARUCsummer24
