Design is important. User experience is critical to success. I find that so many people do not understand the value of either and so much of what I do is not only the work itself or educating and selling the importance of it to clients and coworkers.
Why founders need to stop underestimating design. When I first started rebuilding Seedj’s design system, I realised some of the conversations we had were around design being a cost, not an investment. Here’s why I think that mindset can be harmful: 1️⃣ Design builds trust. In Seedj’s case, the previous design was inconsistent and confusing. After launching the revamped system, user engagement increased by 24%. That’s not aesthetics—that’s usability driving ROI. 2️⃣ Design reduces churn. Small UX tweaks (like clearer CTAs and improved navigation) reduced user drop-off by 19% when A/B tested a landing page for Seedj. Founders often spend millions on acquisition but ignore the cost of a bad UX driving users away. 3️⃣ Design scales businesses. Great design isn’t just for users; it’s for teams. Seedj’s new design system saved the team countless hours by making updates seamless. Time is money, and design systems save both. Design should not be a 'nice to have'... It’s the bridge between user satisfaction and business growth.

Often, UX (design) is seen as a point in time or an event. It is really a core competency. This is why.

🌟 An Evening of Insight and Inspiration: Roundtable & Fireside Chat 🌟 Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend Roundtable & Fireside Chat organized by Shreshth Kapoor from adplist.org & Onething Design, Open UX Community. The event was a blend of networking, learning, and engaging discussions, featuring a panel of distinguished design leaders. Here’s a detailed look: 1. Ice-Breaking Session: The evening kicked off with an ice-breaking activity. This session was meant to interact with someone we hadn’t met before and then introduce them to the group. I connected with Taarush G. only, a UX Designer at Onething Design and our conversation was enjoyable. We exchanged backgrounds, discussed our career aspirations. It was a fantastic way to ease into the evening and start building connections. 2. Meet the Panelists: - Kunal Katariaa Kataria (Head of Design, Proxgy) - Divanshu Thakral (Co-Founder & Director, Onething Design Studio) - sanjeev kumar (Head of Design, BharatPe) Each panelist provided unique insights into their daily routines and professional philosophies: Sanjeev shared how he takes out a specific time slot each day for uninterrupted personal growth. This period is dedicated to nurturing his skills and expanding his knowledge. I found this practice particularly inspiring, as it shows the importance of dedicating time for self-improvement amidst a busy schedule. Divanshu gave us a peek into his weekly schedule, particularly his Thursday and Friday client meetings. He highlighted the challenges of managing client expectations and the iterative nature of design work. His approach to navigating difficult client interactions and presenting designs to open the door for feedback is something I looked upto. Kunal Kataria shared his unique start to the day, involving 30-40 minutes spent interacting with his plants. This practice helps him plan his day with a clear mind. A refreshing perspective and a practice I’m excited to incorporate into my own routine. The discussion went into personal stories of failure. One standout moment was Divanshu’s journey to establishing Onething. After some ventures that didn’t succeed, Divanshu and Manik Arora decided to focus all their efforts on onething. Their commitment to making this venture succeed, despite the odds, was inspiring. The story of how Onething Design was named and the vision behind it was particularly motivating. The knowledge shared and the connections made are invaluable & I really enjoyed catching up with lovely peeps out there. Ever wonder how Myspace, once a social media giant, fell from grace? Let’s explore the key marketing failures that led to its decline! Despite having millions of users, Myspace struggled due to overwhelming advertising everywhere, creating a cluttered experience that drove users away. Additionally, Myspace was built on a fragile tech platform, which couldn’t keep up with user demands or innovate effectively. They offshored development, sacrificing quality and responsiveness, leading to frustrated users. Over time, Myspace developed a bad reputation, especially with the rise of competitors who prioritized user experience. Ultimately, they focused more on website aesthetics than on improving their core service, resulting in lost engagement and trust. Check these reasons in your business strategy! Don’t let history repeat itself like Myspace. Contact us now to improve your results and achieve your goals!
