While we welcome the rise of the Government's ‘National Living Wage’ and the boost this means for low-paid workers, there’s only one real Living Wage which is: - Independently calculated - Based on the actual cost of living - Applies to everyone over 18 - Has a higher London rate Did you know the difference between these rates? Let us know in the comments! #NationalLivingWage #RealLivingWage #MinimumWage #LowPay

Australia's independent wage-setting body has raised the national minimum wage by 3.75 per cent. The increase is largely in line with inflation and comes as Australian households continue to face soaring living costs. #australia #costofliving #minimumwage #minimumwageaustralia #inflation #livingcosts

Update: Based on recent data from the Big Issue, the pay rise for thousands of workers as Real Living Wage rises to an hourly rate of £12.60 💵 The new Real Living Wage rates are now worth more than £2,262 more per year in the UK than the legal minimum, and upwards of £4,700 more in London! 😳 One+All is one of the 15,000 businesses signed up to the Real Living Wage - a voluntary pay standard, independently set by the Living Wage Foundation. This week, rates will rise to £12.60 an hour across the UK (60p or 5% increase), and £13.85 an hour in London (70p or 5.3% increase). Half a million people will enjoy the (col) inflation-beating pay rise. Since April this year, the statutory minimum wage (officially, and somewhat confusingly, termed the National Living Wage) has been £11.44 per hour for employees aged 21 and over. For those working full time that equates to around £23,795 per year! As the COL crisis grinds on, it simply isn't sufficient. Some 14.4 million people in the UK live in poverty. Work isn't enough to keep 'the wolf' from the door: 63% of children and working-age adults in poverty in 2022/23 lived in families where at least one adult was working at least part-time. There are currently three million children in working households living in Poverty, up from 2.1 million in 2010. The government's National Living Wage rose to £11.44 on Monday 1st April, but only if you are aged 21 or over. Workers younger than that get paid less. Only the real Living Wage applies to all workers over the age of 18. The real Living Wage remains the only wage rate independently calculated based on the cost of living and is currently £12 across the UK and £13.15 in London. Big news for workers! The Central Government has revised the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), increasing minimum wages to ~₹450–₹1030/day. This move benefits 50 crore workers, especially 90% in the unorganized sector, helping them cope with rising costs. But challenges remain: Wage disparity across states due to the non-binding Minimum Wages Act (1948) and National Floor Level Minimum Wage (NFLMW). Poor enforcement and lack of awareness hinder progress. Will this step reduce inequality or deepen migration issues? Starting 6 April 2025, UK employers will see higher costs due to adjustments in National Insurance rates and wage regulations. The National Minimum Wage will also increase for over-21s, intensifying financial strain on sectors with high staffing needs. Although smaller businesses will benefit from an increase in Employment Allowance, most larger employers will still experience substantial cost hikes.
