Had a great time at the Partner Weekend Residency for my Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business MBA with my other half. This program is a full-time weekend MBA, featuring top-tier professors and a demanding curriculum. What I really appreciate is how Duke goes beyond just academics – they’re intentional about creating bonding moments for the cohort, all while delivering a world-class education. The highlight of the weekend? Casino Night! We dressed to impress and had a blast with classmates and their significant others. This term, I’m diving into Business Analytics, Managerial Accounting, and Leadership & Development. At first glance, these subjects might seem straightforward or even make you question why someone would spend so much time and money on them. But the deeper you go, the more you realize there’s a lot to unpack – like using large data sets to calculate linear regressions and standard deviations to make informed decisions. As Fuqua’s Distinguished Professor Saša Pekeč said in class, “Humans bring intuition, creativity, and holistic thinking to the table. But we also have blind spots, biases, and tend to overestimate our understanding. On the flip side, machines have no intuition or emotion but excel at processing data. With AI on the rise, we must guide the machine to sharpen our thinking through thoughtful input. We often get questions from our prospective students around the ROI of Sloan and timeframe to secure a new role. A facet of my Sloan Journey. Blue in the picture below: fulfilled in the Sloan program at London Business School. From academic diploma/certificate wise, I was able to cover a whole pathway from engineering to corporate strategy/finance/governance. Note: the vertical axis is not a hierarchy, but I would say it is a degree of abstraction (the higher the vertical axis, the less tangible the deliverable is).
