(USA 11.06.24) #foodtech #berries Ripelocker strikes deal with global berry producer Agrovision to roll out shelf-life extension tech. Berry supplier Agrovision https://lnkd.in/gRKwPd5w has partnered with RipeLocker https://ripelocker.com/ , a Seattle-based startup, to use its patented low-atmosphere vacuum chambers to extend the shelf-life of berries. This technology will be incorporated into Agrovision's global market offerings, including its consumer-facing brand, The Fruitist https://thefruitist.com/ . The technology allows the berries to maintain freshness for up to 12 weeks without quality loss. This advancement will enable Agrovision to access more distant markets and introduce high-flavor varietals that were previously limited by shorter shelf lives. RipeLocker's technology creates a near-vacuum or ultra-low oxygen environment, reducing fruit respiration by more than 50% on average, enabling longer storage, and facilitating a switch from air freight to ocean freight. ----- [AG: Our Australian berry industry can learn a few key things from this development: Embrace Technology: The use of innovative technology like RipeLocker's vacuum chambers can significantly extend the shelf life of berries, allowing for better quality control and reducing waste. It's crucial to keep an eye on emerging technologies and consider their potential benefits. Expand Market Reach: With extended shelf-life, berries can be transported to more distant markets without quality loss. This could open up new opportunities for exports and broaden the industry's customer base. Sustainability: The technology allows for a switch from air freight to ocean freight, reducing the industry's carbon footprint. This aligns with growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly practices. Shipping Cost: Shipping by sea is significantly cheaper than air transport, enhancing our global price competitiveness. Varietal Expansion: The extended shelf life allows for the introduction of high-flavour varietals that were previously limited by shorter shelf lives. This can help diversify offerings and potentially attract new customers. Consumer Benefits: The technology not only maintains the freshness of berries but also enhances their aroma, crunch and flavour, and retains their nutritional value. This could lead to higher customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.] ----- https://lnkd.in/g4ZQgUSw

🥜 👨🌾 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 – 𝐀 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭! The whole journey of Seedtrace started 2019 working closely with farmer collectives. A big driver was the desire to connect the people at the origin and along the supply chain as well as the environmental impact of products to the moment we're as consumers all making decision to buy. Sitting at home shopping online or walking into shops to do our groceries for dinner... we take buying decisions almost every day. This is why seeing projects coming to life where change is achieved is a step in the right direction of our mission. DAVERT, the organic pioneer brand by Midsona AB, collects sustainability data directly at the source in collaboration with its suppliers. Together with Seedtrace, the food manufacturer traces selected products and ingredients back to the origins and gathers essential supply chain data at the farm level. 👩🌾 👨🌾 By establishing traceability for complex processed goods, Davert is setting new standards in the organic food segment and creates important momentum that goes beyond certifications. Within half a year, a line of nut spreads has become transparent and offers consumers the chance to gain insights into each single jar in their hands by scanning a QR code or exploring the interactive product journey in their webshop. Key ingredients like cashews, almonds, and peanuts can be traced at the batch level. It's never to be seen as a final stage of achieving more sustainable and transparent supply chains but a lot of learning - and eventually one more step along the way. And of course - I would be super curious about your thoughts and feedback if you spot one of Davert's nut-butters in your local supermarket and scan to find out more! 📖 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 * the significance of first-mile data * challenges related to data availability, structuring, and prioritisation * workflows for successful project implementation 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ezagv4p9 #SupplyChainTransparency #CaseStudy #Traceability #FromSeedToShelf #FromHumanToHuman #Sustainability #FoodAndBeverage #FoodIndustry #Organic
