I had the privilege of being a speaker to share about Peninsula College Georgetown with the bright and enthusiastic students of Chung Ling High School. It was an incredible experience to connect with them, discuss the exciting opportunities at PCG, and hopefully inspire some to take the next step in their educational journey. Seeing their curiosity and passion reminds me of the importance of guiding and empowering the next generation. Thank you to Chung Ling High School for the warm welcome and to Peninsula College Georgetown for the platform to make a difference.

As I begin preparing for exams this week, I try to emphasize to my STEM students the importance to study SMART and not HARD and I realize the point that some of us educators have missed. When students take exams, it’s about how fast they can recall accurately within a given time frame. So does that mean that those students who miss out on placing at the universities with Cs and Ds are less intelligent? No!! Some take time to answer questions but are more creative and innovative . The tests and exams that we put higher percentages and emphasis on is not really a true measure of how innovative and creative our children are. Let’s all encourage hands on projects that are solutions to real world problems.

🌟 Empowering Our Students with Oracy Skills for Life Beyond School 🌟 We believe in preparing our students not just for exams, but for a successful life beyond the classroom. This week, our dedicated staff came together for training on oracy – the essential skill of speaking confidently, listening actively, and engaging thoughtfully. Oracy isn’t just about speaking well; it’s about giving students the tools they need to communicate effectively, collaborate confidently, and think critically. These skills are invaluable, not only in academic settings but also in the workplace and personal life. Through our oracy-focused approach, we’re committed to helping our students: • Build confidence in expressing ideas and articulating thoughts clearly. • Develop empathy by learning to listen actively and engage in meaningful discussions. • Foster leadership and teamwork by sharing perspectives and respecting others. We’re excited to see how these skills transform our classrooms and prepare our students to be articulate, compassionate, and resourceful citizens of the world. #Education #Oracy #SkillsForLife #StudentSuccess #BeyondSchool #TeamBHS

Early in my teaching career, I realized that disruptive students often lacked direction and didn't understand the purpose of education. Because of this experience, I realized that "The Power of Purpose and Passion" had to be one of the core pillars of mentorship. To instill purpose, we must first understand our own. By understanding our purpose, we can become servant leaders and provide the guidance and leadership that disadvantaged youth need to succeed. We must also address the hopelessness prevalent in the communities we serve. Young boys of color often see poor role models and face an education system that overemphasizes white/European figures. They rarely learn about successful people who look like them. By sharing our purpose and demonstrating what's possible, we can inspire youth of color, help them overcome hopelessness, and guide them to discover their purpose. We've walked in their shoes; we share their experiences, and we've discovered our purpose and achieved success. This is the unique connection we, as potential mentors, can bring to the table. What steps will you take to inspire the next generation?

"Reflecting on my journey in education, I recall a moment when a student, who had struggled academically, thanked me for believing in their potential. That moment underscored the profound impact we can have as educators. It's not just about teaching subjects but creating an environment that fosters curiosity and growth. As we advance in our careers, let's continue to inspire and innovate. How do you strive to make a meaningful impact in your field?.

"Does the sameness in your advanced classes bother you? 🧐 It should. When we settle for uniformity, we miss the unique strengths each student brings to the table. Advanced classes shouldn’t be about more of the same—they should be about pushing boundaries, challenging each student to think critically, and creating space for diverse talents and perspectives to shine. Let's rethink how we teach, inspire, and empower. The future of education depends on it. 🚀 #MasteryForAll #GrowthMindset #Education #Revolution

**Learning is Life, and Teachers Are at the Heart of It** As I reflect on my experience watching educators across various levels and states, it's clear that there is an urgent need to empower our teachers. They are the true catalysts of change. From schools to colleges and universities, our institutions should serve as powerhouses for applying what is taught in classrooms. Teachers are not just mentors—they are the key drivers of development, influencing change at the project level, community level, state level, and nation level. This Teachers' Day, let’s celebrate the incredible role teachers play in shaping not only our futures but also the future of our society. #TeachersDay #Education #EmpowerTeachers #LearningIsLife #CatalystForChange #NationBuilding
