I spent the last year "doing nothing." And now that I look back to take stock of the year, it's been a year of priviledge from one lens - I read books, went to cafes, chilled, wrote, took a creative writing course, met new people, took my first solo trip, lived out of a suitcase for almost 3 months, met family (a lot), and did nothing, a lot. But it's also been a year of losing a lot of metaphorical "weight." The weight of past mistakes. The weight of self-criticism. The weight of external validation. The weight of not feeling enough. The weight of being "someone." To do nothing doesn't mean really doing nothing. It's about doing nothing, but with a purpose. Now, as I transition from copywriting to full-time feature writing, I feel fresh, excited, and ready to give myself to it wholly, unburdened by the past, and unafraid by the future.
