XGRIDS’ Post

Manuel Allinger took the #Lixel K1 on an amazing journey across Berlin, producing incredible 3D models of various iconic locations. 🌆 It's hard to believe that such high-quality captures were possible in such a short period—truly a testament to their passion for 3D and the power of #SLAM-based #3DGS technology. With just the compact K1 scanner and some careful route planning, they managed to scan even the inaccessible areas where drones couldn't go. Thank you for pushing the boundaries of what XGRIDS technology can do, and for the valuable feedback that will help us continue to improve. Can't wait to see how these stunning captures evolve into an interactive Berlin experience! ✨ #XGRIDS #3DGS #SLAM #Berlin #3DScanning #LixelK1 #DigitalTwins #UrbanExploration #Innovation

❓❓❓ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗫𝗚𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝗟𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗹 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗞𝟭 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻?🤔🏛️🛠️ That's right, we had the XGRIDS K1 slam scanner in Berlin and tested it extensively in the last weeks. In total, 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬 𝗸𝗺 with it and captured 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: Outdoor, indoor, tight, spacious, busy, quiet, clean, dirty, light, dark, reflective and with lots of glass, as well as completely non-reflective and made of wood... 🤓🔎 Our primary goal was to test and refine the 𝗽𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟯𝗗 𝗚𝗮𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (#3DGS) with the K1, and this went very well. But it's worth noting that the K1 can also be used as a complete standalone SLAM scanner. 🔓📵 💡 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱: 1️⃣ Fast capture of large areas and scenes: RTK-enabled for high positioning accuracy 2️⃣ Versatile data handling: Use with iPhone/Android or as a standalone scanner 3️⃣ Reliable battery life: Up to 90 minutes of scanning per battery 4️⃣ End-to-end workflow: Everything handled in XGRIDS software - no third-party tools required 5️⃣ Easy sharing: Seamless cloud integration for collaboration ⚠️ 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱: 1️⃣ Long post-processing times for 3DGS: Full CPU / GPU utilisation limits multitasking during training 2️⃣ High storage demand: Large amount of temporary data generated 3️⃣ Hardware dependent quality: Get better models with more VRAM (NVIDIA CUDA required!) 4️⃣ Occasional processing errors: Rare but sometimes non-reproducible errors 5️⃣ Support could be improved: Responses were slow and users had to follow up 6️⃣ Close-range 3DGS: Results are not super sharp within 1-2 metres. Acquisition times increase with higher 3DGS quality. 🎥🤩 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟯𝗗𝗚𝗦 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻. 🔥🚀 👉 👉 👉 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂: If you are interested in detailed insights into our results, how we arrived at them, or are generally interested in the use cases we see for the K1 device, 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝘂𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀! Depending on your feedback, we’ll share more detailed posts in the coming weeks. Let’s explore the potential of XGRIDS' 3DGS device together! 🤝📶 Special thanks to: Jismil Lathif Yoshiharu (Josh) S. Thanks for sharing! I would say 90% of these locations wouldn't be possible with drones. ✌️ It's just the beginning
