I just ended my Day 2 of #IEUK24 and I had the pleasure of attending several insightful sessions, and I wanted to share some of my key takeaways that highlight the importance of resilience, sustainability, and demand generation in today's business landscape. Laura Tye and Philip Yarrow introduced today’s session and emphasized the importance of resilience, encouraging us to persevere through hardships. Laura reminded us that it's never too late to start anew and challenge ourselves despite setbacks & open ourselves to new opportunities. Victoria Stedman of British Airways discussed the travel industry’s challenges, including geopolitical issues, fluctuating fuel costs, and climate change. British Airways is recovering swiftly through advancements in fuel efficiency, sustainability, and the A321 neo aircraft. Daisy Thompson and Juetong Liang highlighted Nestlé Commitment to sustainability, noting that sourcing raw materials significantly impacts greenhouse gas emissions. Their Cocoa Plan and Milk Plan are vital steps towards achieving Net Zero by 2050. Aileen Nathan of Mondelēz International Shared innovations in sustainable packaging, such as using a chocolate shell egg for mini eggs, eliminating 28 million plastic pieces and 400 tonnes of cardboard. Improved palletization also reduced over 25,000 pallets, showcasing a successful return to consumer-favorite formats. Lydia Cronin of Bright Network differentiated B2B and B2C marketing, with B2B focusing on long-term relationships and B2C targeting individual consumer needs. She emphasized on demand generation as a strategic approach that bridges Marketing and Sales to drive revenue growth, leveraging compelling content, thought leadership, and freemium models. Charles Frost of AlphaSights highlighted the importance of unlocking human knowledge through both codified expertise and on-demand access to industry specialists. He discussed five sales profiles, emphasizing that successful Sales Executives in complex sales are often challengers and Relationship builders. Marie Fukuura of Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I gave insights on her transition from fashion to the alcoholic beverage industry, she also shed light on on-trade and off-trade sales channels and innovative nonalcoholic beer campaigns. These sessions have been incredibly enriching, reinforcing the value of resilience, sustainability, and innovative demand generation strategies in achieving business success. 6 wonderful years in Reckitt and continuing... Reckitt has given me vast experience, burnt fingers, learnt a lot, groomed myself large. Heading out to LA for AmericaPack Summit & am lucky enough to have the wife join & see some family a day early! Some key takeaways: 1. Don’t book flights that board before 6am. Great in theory, not in practice 2. Find wife a good carry on 3. Work on my Delta Air Lines status because Zone 6 just isn’t it 😂 Excited to spend the week learning more about different innovations in the packaging space. Moreover, we will also get to hear from different brands on their needs and future automation plans. No better way to understand the pulse of the market than hearing directly from those that are in the trenches daily. Listening is extremely powerful! Hope everyone has a great week!

You can work against change or with change. Reusable takeaway solutions are becoming mandatory, but there are no ready solutions that also guarantee sustainability performance. Ambassadors of the past: at Vaess, working here means staying connected for life.
