Imagine living in a place where life has adapted to survive on minimal rainfall. 𝗡𝗼𝘄, 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟱𝟬𝟬% 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹. What would happen to the dry land, unprepared to absorb such an overwhelming influx of water? This is exactly what’s about to unfold in one of the driest places on Earth—the Sahara Desert. 𝗔 𝗥𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁 According to 'Severe Weather Europe', the Sahara is expected to experience approximately 500% more rainfall than usual this September. For a region that typically sees almost no rain throughout the year, this increase is dramatic. The Sahara remains dry because it lies beneath the subtropical ridge, a permanent high-pressure system that forces air downward, creating a stable, arid atmosphere. The common man sees this as an abnormal rain and uncontrollable event or simply says God's Act, but never relates it to the Climate Change. Extreme Weather events are increasing all across the world, but still the awareness on climate change among a large number of population is almost zilch. we can't contribute much to this but at least spread awareness, that much we can do and use technology in the right direction. #Climatechange

Extreme weather hit Europe during the Easter weekend, with unusually high temperatures recorded in southern Italy, Spain, and France. Floods occurred in France, accompanied by strong southerly winds carrying Saharan dust across the Mediterranean all the way up to Germany. These phenomena are mostly strengthened by human-driven climate change. For more details, refer to #ClimaMeter. https://lnkd.in/dAnMQE8V

A year's worth of rain in two days. Let me repeat: A year's worth of rain in two days You can thank neoliberalism, colonialism and government's inactions. And how is that possible? Thanks to majority of people not only accepting this, but supporting the very policies that are hindering our right to live in a liveable planet. Every plane you fly, every animal you eat, every shit you consume, every vote for neoliberal policies is an invitation for yet more and more of these apocalyptic events. ________ We are at a turning point in our history: which side do we want to be on, those who do evil or those who watch it happen? I have chosen to act for the common good: I seek to engage in discussions and reflections on the crucial issues of climate and social justice to radically transform our societies and tell a new story. React, share and comment to be part of the urgent movement that our civilization requires! 🌍✨
SHOCKING: Morocco had a YEAR’S worth of rain in just TWO DAYS, causing DEADLY floods. The climate crisis is here and the science is clear: extreme weather events driven by fossil fuels are becoming more frequent and severe across the world.

The reality of climate change is with us. Morocco and Algeria, the other country also affected, do not normally experience flooding, because there is usually not as much rain as other regions. So, when we talk about climate change, these are the kind of consequences we foresee. If this civilisation does not change its ways, we shall surely all perish either from floods, fire and or heat, and maybe this the fire and brimstone that we read about. #TheTalkWithMerelin #sdgs #sdg9 #sustainableinfrastructure #sustainableindustry #innovation #sustainability #agenda2030 #carbonneutrality #womenempowerment #youthempowerment #inclusivedevelopment #justtransition #netzero

Extreme weather in Europe cost £11.4B and 151 lives in 2023. The new “European State of the Climate 2023” report gives a comprehensive overview of how climate change is impacting Europe. The report doesn’t make great reading. Europe has been warming two times the global average (2.6C above pre-industrial level for 2023). As the fastest-warming continent on Earth. In 2023, there were at least 151 lives lost due to floods, wildfires and storms. In economic terms, losses from extreme weather events are estimated at £11.4 billion (€13.4 billion). A 5,000 km2 area was burned in wildfires. This is the size of London, Paris and Berlin combined. 41% of Southern Europe was affected by heat stress during July 2023, but heat-related loss of life has not yet been calculated. The report can be read via the link in the comments below. Credit: Donal Daly and Copernicus ECMWF #climatechange #report #impact
