Soybean production in #Argentina is expected to increase in 2024-25, with a larger planted second soy crop. Production is estimated at 51 million tonnes, up 1.5 million tonnes from the previous harvest. #Wheat planting is expected to decrease due to low prices and low returns. #Corn planting is expected to decrease for similar reason but also fueled by fear of the impact of the chicharrita to yields. → https://ow.ly/78yQ50RvPgo #agriculture #agribusiness #grain #oilseeds #soybeans #SouthAmerica

Argentina's soy planting reaches full speed, first plants show good condition BUENOS AIRES, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Argentina's 2024/25 soybean planting is progressing rapidly with recent rains helping the first plants, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said on Thursday. Soybean planting in the world's top exporter of soybean oil and meal advanced by 16 percentage points over the past week, to reach 35.8% of the 18.6 million hectares estimated for this season, according to the exchange weekly crop report. The institution linked the progress to "good surface moisture conditions across a large portion of the agricultural area." It also said that farmers have reported good plant stand results, despite isolated cases where seed quality wasn't up to standard. On the other hand, 2024/25 corn planting only advanced 0.8 percentage point over the last week, as farmers prioritized soybean planting. Farmers have sowed 39.4% of the 6.3 million hectares of cornfields expected for the season. Argentina, the world's third-largest corn exporter and a key global supplier of wheat, has harvested 29.3% of the 18.6 million of wheat expected, the exchange added.

Brazil and its sea of soybeans By Geraldo José G. Isoldi, Agricultural Markets Analyst for King Korn In a report released on Nov. 14, the second of the Brazilian 24/25 season, the National Supply Company (CONAB, the agricultural Brazilian official agency) announced that Brazil is expected to harvest 166.14 million metric tons of soybeans (6.10 billion bushels). Interestingly, this figure is very close to the latest WASDE projection (Nov. 8), which indicated 169 mmt (6.21 billion bushels). Adding in Argentina’s 51 mmt (1.87 billion bu) and Paraguay’s 11.2 mmt (411.59 million bu), both projected by the USDA, South America’s total soybean production could reach a record 230 mmt (8.45 billion bu) — a true sea of soybeans. For Brazil, this estimate is also the largest ever, 6.7% above the previous record of 155.7 mmt (5.72 billion bu) in the 22/23 season. The soybean crop in Brazil traditionally starts in mid-September, with the states of Paraná and Mato Grosso.… Continue reading https://lnkd.in/gfKCTsTh

Argentina's soy planting makes fast progress after abundant rains BUENOS AIRES, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Argentina's Buenos Aires grains exchange said on Thursday that soybean planting had progressed very smoothly over the past week, following abundant rainfall across key parts of the major grains supplier's agricultural heartlands. Argentina is the world's top exporter of soybean oil and meal, and its farmers have already planted some 20.1% of an expected 18.6 million hectares this season, the exchange said, marking a rapid 12.2 percentage point increase over the last week. "Optimal surface moisture has allowed early soybean planting to progress smoothly over both key agricultural hubs," the exchange said in a weekly report. The report was published a day after the Rosario grains exchange edged up its forecast for the country's soy output to 53-53.5 million metric tons from a prior forecast of 52-53 million tons. Regarding the nation's corn farming, the Buenos Aires exchange said farmers had planted some 38.6% of an expected 6.3 million hectares, while wheat farmers had sowed 17.2% of an expected 18.6 million hectares of wheatfields. Argentina is the world's third-largest corn exporter and a key global supplier of wheat.

Argentina's soybean fields in good shape after recent rains, report shows BUENOS AIRES, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Argentina's 2024/25 soybean crop is in good condition after getting a moisture boost from rainfall in the country's main farming regions in recent weeks, the Buenos Aires grains exchange said on Thursday. According to the exchange's weekly crop report, 98% of the area planted with soybeans now has adequate to optimal moisture. Argentina is the world's leading exporter of soybean oil and meal. Farmers have so far planted 44.4% of the 18.6 million hectares (46 million acres) sown with soybeans, advancing 8.6 percentage points in the last week, according to the report. Regarding the 2024/25 corn crop, the exchange said the rains "have allowed the continued improvement in the condition of early plantings (plots planted)," with nearly 97% of cases analyzed nationwide in normal or excellent condition. The exchange estimates that Argentine farmers have already planted 41.3% of the 6.3 million hectares it forecasts will be planted with corn this season. The exchange also said that 38.7% of the wheat for the 2024/25 campaign has already been harvested, with production estimated at 18.6 million tonnes. Argentina is the world's third largest exporter of corn and a key global supplier of wheat.

Turkey farmers kick off wheat harvest 15 days earlier than usually In Turkey, wheat harvesting began 15 days earlier than usual, with first crops threshed in Adana, said agriculture journalist Ali Ekber Yıldırım. Protein level there shows 15.5%, but in general wheat yield is expected at the level of 2023. With areas growth by 7% y/y, according to Ministry of Agriculture, total wheat production can be expected at 22 MMT in 2024, Ali Ekber added. Union Of Turkish Chambers Of Agriculture announced cost of wheat production (in dry conditions) at 10870 TL/T (~334 USD/T), up 62% y/y. Such a rise is due to drastic growth of fuel prices and fertilizers in Turkey. However, in Apr, TMO sold wheat at prices average 9700 TL/T (~300 USD/T), and as of May, offer prices EXW set at 8950 TL/T (~277 USD/T).

#Brazil, among the world’s agricultural powerhouses as a producer of corn and soybeans, is looking to become self-sufficient in the production of #wheat within the next decade. In the early 2000s, Brazil’s wheat production was able to meet just over 30% of the national demand. However, by the 2022-23 harvest, this self-sufficiency rate had increased to 80%, a significant improvement. Despite this progress, the country still faces a gap between production and consumption. → https://ow.ly/xmeJ50Svpmy #agriculture #agribusiness #grain
