Today, we are launching a groundbreaking campaign that uses GenAI to give voice to survivors while protecting their identities. Through AI-generated avatars powered by D-ID's cutting-edge technology, you'll hear real stories that will open your eyes to the realities of trafficking and child exploitation in the U.S.   Meet Courtney, an aspiring artist trafficked at 23; Theresa, groomed and exploited at 15 while still living at home; Bob, abused at the age of 5 by family members; and Sara, who emphasizes that survivors seek global recognition, and empathy in their healing journey. Their stories, and others like them, will challenge what you think you know about trafficking.   This isn't just another awareness campaign. It's a collaboration between tech innovators, entrepreneurs, academics, survivors, and social workers, including: Shiran Mlamdovsky Somech (D-ID, Generative AI for Good) Naama Zeevi Rivlin (Marva Center) Dr. Celia Williamson (Emancipation Nation Network) Theresa Flores (The SOAP Project) D-ID: Providing the AI technology that brings survivors' stories to life   While AI can be misused, leading to abuse and exploitation of adults and youths around the world, this project is a great example of how GenAI is a powerful ally in the fight against human trafficking.   Watch the video. I first met Sandy Skelaney virtually when I wrote an article for Miami New Times about an app that helps law enforcement target human traffickers. I've since followed her journey and enjoyed her insightful shares. Earlier this month, I finally met her in person! Today, she's head of Strategic Partnerships for The Parasol Cooperative and was in DC with CEO Megs Shah to debut a new app at the The National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) #TechSummit and the Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation’s Global Summit. You all know how I feel about AI. But "Ruth"--the first trauma-informed AI guardian--is a perfect example of how AI can serve for harm reduction. This means something to me--in my brief and very eye-opening foray into covering human trafficking and exploitation, it was hard not to be heartbroken about humanity. (Disgusted is a better word.) The more you know, the more unbelievable it is. It's refreshing to see technology help mitigate this kind of human suffering. Kudos to the Parasol Collective for harnessing the power to empower others. Jackie Abramian writes: "No other public-facing AI tool in the market is trained to provide trauma-informed support by instantly detecting abuse from the conversation and offering practical technology guidance, a safety plan, and contacts of local, professional advocates for further assistance." GenX is a mix of punk meets rock meets disco meets reggae meets world music meets creativity being taken on in a way that kinda cracked the monolith as it were of media sources, content. we were in it. there was a liberation of thought. learnings. so you random walked about in philosophy, history, geography, literature, maths, comp sci, gym... i mean it was a bit of the greek mindset. a healthy body, healthy mind. healthy mind, healthy body. there's a thought. a way of observing ourselves so that when we skew one way or the other we self-course-correct. optimizing to your mountain peak. your mt everest. and once that is climbed the sensation appears. it is as in haiti. the land where behind the mountain are other mountains. how wonderful. the adventure of it all. g-d's glory.
