How often do you think about what you are breathing in when you spray a cleaning product? How often do you think about what goes down the drain when you wash away cleaning products? And where that goes? And what harm they all do to humans, pets, aquatic life & the atmosphere?

September marks #RuralRoadSafetyMonth, an important campaign focusing on the specific challenges faced on rural and remote roads. Despite the lower population, almost two-thirds (64%) of last year's recorded fatalities across Australia occurred on regional roads. This year's campaign message is 'Help sow the seeds of change. Road safety starts with you!' This message emphasises each road user's responsibility to make safer choices on and around the road, which is particularly relevant to us at Greening Australia. Our choices today pave the way for a safer future. It's not just about awareness; by making smarter choices and taking safer actions, we can reduce the risks on our roads, given our risk profile and exposure to regional driving across the country. Let's work together to emphasise the importance of road safety, promote a culture of safety across our communities, and ensure that every journey on our rural roads is safe. Watch the ARSF video below and share it across as many platforms as possible!
Every road, every journey, every choice matters. This Rural Road Safety Month, let’s come together to make a difference. Respect the road and choose safety on every journey. #chooseroadsafety #sowtheseeds #ruralroadsafety #rrsm2024

It's Rural Road Safety Month. With warmer weather approaching, we're enjoying country drives. Here's how to stay safe on country roads. 1. Food, water, fuel and reception can all be far away on country roads. Pack spare supplies, including a paper map, for long trips. 2. Country roads are more likely to be unsealed, gravel, potholed or just narrow. So drive slowly. 3. You’re far more likely to see wild animals on rural roads, especially at dusk or dawn. Brake, rather than swerve if they block your path. 4. One of the biggest killers on country roads is driving tired. Start driving when rested, take regular breaks and don't drive for more than 8 hours in a day. Given that 44% of on-farm fatalities occur among farmers over the age of 60, addressing the safety challenges faced by this aging demographic is critical. The physical demands of farming, coupled with age-related declines in strength, reaction time, and sensory perception, significantly heighten the risk of injury. To mitigate these dangers, it is essential to implement strategies such as redesigning tasks to be less physically taxing, planning for generational succession, and ensuring regular health check-ups with a GP. These measures can substantially improve the safety and well-being of older farmers. I recognised many of these proactive measures happening at Jamie Grants' property and thought he’d be a great guy to weigh in on this discussion for Farm Safety Week. Click on the link below to find out how we can ensure everyone is ‘in safe hands’ on the farm: https://farmsafe.org.au/ #NationalFarmSafetyWeek #InSafeHands #FarmSafety
While ageing is a part of life, it does bring increased risks for those living and working on farms. As part of this year's National Farm Safety Week campaign, we are drawing attention to these challenges and highlighting strategies that may enhance safety and wellbeing for those working well into their golden years. Thanks to Jamie Grant of Kielli Cotton for giving us a look at how he is managing ageing on farm. #nationalfarmsafetyweek #insafehands #farmsafety

A great motivational quote to start your day.
By believing in yourself and acting responsibly, you can achieve great things while also protecting the natural world. You can also cut down on hospital bills and excessive government paperwork. You did what? Where? Sounds like a win-win-win situation to us, which in the end, means we all win. As women working in male-dominated fields, believing in yourself is crucial. By combining confidence with responsible actions, you can achieve remarkable success while advocating for a balanced and inclusive environment. Embrace your strengths, challenge the norms, and remember that every responsible action you take paves the way for others. Let's lead by example, reducing barriers and showing that true achievement means everyone wins.

While working on this assignment for my AS in Ocupational health and safety. It caused me to do some serious reflection about the health and well being of our fleet drivers. It is so important that we are mindful of the physical health and well being of the drivers. Without them making the sacrifices they do day in and day out our economy would not be able to thrive. What are y’all’s thoughts on this topic?
