🌟 Recently wrapped up my first UI/UX internship at Banao Technologies, and it has been a highly insightful experience! Before I joined, I had no idea what it truly meant to work as a designer in a team setting. Over the past few months, I’ve learned some valuable lessons that have reshaped how I approach design: 🎯 Constant Reviews Matter: Regular feedback helps refine designs and catch things I might have missed on my own. 🔗 Big Picture Thinking: While creating new screens, it’s important to consider the entire project flow to maintain consistency and functionality. ⏰ Time Management: Designing within deadlines is a whole different skill—learning to balance quality and speed was key. 🎨 Sticking to the Project Scope: Sometimes, the most creative ideas have to take a backseat in order to meet project requirements, and that’s okay. 💻 Development Constraints: This was something I had trouble getting used to initially, but understanding the technical limitations while designing taught me how to collaborate better with developers and create practical & feasible designs. A big thank you to Apurva Tadas and Rohit Ransore for all the support and mentorship! Looking forward to applying these insights to future projects.🌟 #UserExperience #UserInterface #Design

Is this the right way to hire? I came across a company looking for remote UI/UX Designers for a 3 months remote internship. Surprisingly, they were asking for at least 1+ year of experience and expected candidates to work for free for 8-12 hours a day. This isn't an isolated case. Many companies advertise roles as entry-level but demand experience, degrees, coding skills, and more—often at levels expected from senior professionals. The issue isn't about candidates being unqualified; it's about the unrealistic and poorly defined criteria in hiring processes. I’m sure many of you have faced this. What are your thoughts on this approach to hiring?

Here’s a few thoughts I had about this job posting. These thoughts are mine and does not target anyone. Please do apply for this if you are seeking internship opportunity. Potential Red Flags: 1.“100% available, no moonlighting and consultant work”: Indicates a high level expectation of commitment for an internship, which can be unreasonable, especially given the nature of internships. 2.“Performance linked stipend”: This implies that the compensation is not fixed and could be very low or even non-existent if performance metrics are not met. This could be a significant concern. 3.Lack of Company Information: This posting does not mention the name of the company, its location, or any background information. 4.Ambiguous Internship Duration: The internship duration is stated as “3 months, max 9 months.” The lack of a clear duration can make planning difficult for candidates. 5.Potential to become FTE: This is often used to attract candidates but can sometimes be an empty promise if the company’s track record of converting interns to full-time employees is unclear. It would be great if a few things could be mentioned in a better way for designers/students. P.S - Reposted this here so I could get my fellow designers thoughts on this. #jobopportunity #designjobs

🤔Design Portfolios: What Do Hiring Managers Really Look For? As a recruiter working closely with hiring managers in the UI/UX space, one question I hear often is: “What makes a portfolio stand out?” Here’s what top hiring managers in Malaysia are looking for in a design portfolio: 1️⃣ Your Thought Process: It’s not just about the end result. Walk us through how you approached the problem, your research, and the decisions you made along the way. 2️⃣ User-Centric Solutions: Highlight designs that solve real user pain points. Explain how your work improved usability, accessibility, or engagement. 3️⃣ Metrics That Matter: Numbers speak louder than words! Did your design boost conversions, reduce bounce rates, or enhance user satisfaction? Share those impacts! 4️⃣ Collaboration and Feedback: Show how you worked with stakeholders, developers, or other designers and how you incorporated feedback to refine your work. 5️⃣ Simplicity and Focus: A clean, well-organized portfolio leaves a lasting impression. Don’t include everything—focus on 3-5 standout projects that best showcase your skills. 💡 Pro Tip: Tailor your portfolio to the role you’re applying for. If it’s a UX-heavy role, focus on case studies that highlight your user research and wireframing expertise. I’m currently partnering with 🚀 top-tier clients to fill Senior UI/UX positions. If you’re exploring new opportunities, let’s connect and discuss how we can take your career to the next level! 😁 #DesignPortfolios #UIUX #CareerTips #Recruitment #UserExperience #Recruitment #Hiring
