Thank you to Metropolitan Community College (South Omaha Campus) for inviting us last week to present hands-on training to attendees from Refugee Women Rising at the Automotive Training Center. Our Woodhouse professionals, including MCC Automotive Technology program alumnus Gabriel Hernandez, showed participants how to change their oil, when and how to add coolant and antifreeze, check air pressure, emergency roadside procedures and other useful skills to know ahead of winter driving season. #community #givingback #RefugeeWomenRising #AutoService #AutoTechnology #WeAreWoodhouse https://lnkd.in/gGb2QyHw

Young carers can be put in very stressful and isolating situations. They need support to manage those situations and have space to grow as a young person. Governments need to do more to support young carers so they can fulfil their potential #YoungCarersActionDay Show your commitment to creating Fair Futures for Young Carers by signing the Young Carers Covenant: https://lnkd.in/et-dUfB9

A stark read this morning and an area of our work at Carers Trust I’m so passionate about. Young carers on average missed 23 days of school in 2022-23, compared to 14 days missed by young people who are not young carers. A new report by Carers Trust shows the alarming impact of caring on young carers’ education and opportunities. Read the report: https://lnkd.in/eh87Bbmg One key concern is that support for young carers in education is worryingly inconsistent. Read the report and see our reccomendations and policy solutions.

Education has been getting more inclusive through history, and Braille was a stepping stone. Discover the inspiring history of Braille! 📚✨ The Beginning: Braille was invented around 1824 by Louis Braille, a French teenager who lost his sight at age 3. Determined to make reading accessible, Louis took on a challenge that would change the world. The Inspiration: He adapted a military code called ‘night writing,’ originally designed for soldiers to read in the dark, into a system of raised dots that could be felt with the fingertips. The Evolution: Though met with resistance at first, Braille’s system eventually gained acceptance, revolutionizing education and communication for the blind community. The Legacy: Today, Braille is a universal language, empowering millions with independence and literacy worldwide. Swipe to explore how this incredible invention continues to transform lives! 🌍 In the DIG.I.T.ABLE project, we are so proud to contribute to making education more accessible. Please share this simple but important message!
For the past seven years, Mr. Kieran Kelly has been running a driver theory and road safety program for his students in Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar. A key element of the year-long initiative in the school is to encourage students to develop their critical thinking around safe driving and young people, and come up with a way to best promote road safety among their friends. The school's transition year class got behind one such idea which student, Ethan Coll came up with, and they looked to Westmeath County Council for vital funding for filming. Local filmmaker, Noel McIntyre has brought the students' full vision on how to promote road safety among young people from concept to reality. We strongly believe that the class and their whole school community in lending their support to this initiative, have a clear and important message that should be shared far and wide. #SaferRoads

IMPORTANCE OF ROAD SAFETY FOR YOUTH 🚗🛑 As the school year unfolds, let's emphasize the critical importance of road safety for our youth and students. Every day, countless young lives are at risk due to preventable accidents on the road. Educating our future drivers and pedestrians about responsible road behavior is paramount. Road safety isn't just about following traffic rules; it's about fostering a culture of awareness, mindfulness, and respect for others' safety. By instilling these values early on, we equip our youth with the tools they need to navigate roads safely and confidently. Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone on the road. Let's empower our youth to be the change agents for a safer tomorrow. National Road Safety Mission is doing a great work by educating teenagers about the importance of road safety. The National Road Safety Mission for kids and youth program empowers children to be safe on the roads. Their interactive lessons teach them the skills they need to navigate as pedestrians, cyclists, and passengers. With Fun activities and age-appropriate learning, they are helping kids become confident and responsible road users. Moreover, they are making road safety a fun adventure for children through their curriculum and activities. vaddeswarapu blessy angelina you are doing a great job by working for this noble cause.
