Women of the Channel Leadership Conference East in NYC was bigger and better than ever this year! ✨
It was an incredible two days of building connections, laughter, learning about leadership, and honest conversations about being a woman in tech — and all the challenges and amazing opportunities that brings.
Thanks to all who joined us! #WOTC
The women are being raw and very honest with their experiences and trying really hard to make sure that we all connect with their stories. The camaraderie, networking, getting to see my friends from a dozen years ago. The channel is huge and also small. The leadership session, I got to learn a lot from there in how to present, how to speak and how to use your unique, your authentic voice. I'm in Denver, she's in South Carolina, and one of the things that we want to make sure is that we at least get 5 minutes together to say hello even though we're worlds apart.

From 1972, when Katharine Graham of the Washington Post Co. became the first woman Fortune 500 CEO, it took until 2023 – more than 50 years – for women to reach an all-time high of 10.6% of Fortune 500 CEOs. That dismal statistic highlights the need for more women in all levels of leadership positions. Let’s not take 50 more years to reach the next 10%! How can you help?

As we continue to celebrate Women in History Month we love sharing about our own Women of Woodside! Abbie Mirata, Vice President of Learning and Development spoke last month at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Las Vegas with the Professional Women in Building organization.
Abbie led a thought leadership session focused on Leadership Consumption vs. Leadership Development where she shared her insights about the following:
- 5 tips on how to decrease consumption and increase impact while creating ROI on leadership development investments and initiatives.
- Insights into mindset and accountability within our learning and leadership journey.
- Recommendations on boosting retention with a leader's team by implementing better ways to design learning opportunities in meetings.
Two meaningful takeaways from her own experience at the show were, "Your culture is your human software." and "If you don't have engagement, you won't have performance".
NAHB is helping to showcase the importance of people and culture in our industry as a strategic advantage.
Here at Woodside Homes, Abbie is doing an incredible job bringing her insights, passion, and love of learning in support of our vision to be a sustainable, unwavering force for good in people's lives!

The year 2024 is politically a gamechanging year – as we will have many elections worldwide – especially in Europe and the US. Geopolitical tensions are on the rise, impacting our economies, value chains, and national security. Meanwhile, the rapid development of AI and the transition to a more sustainable economy are adding to the complexity of the situation.
As leaders, the challenge is to restore trust in these turbulent times and reduce complexity. The way forward for leaders is to create a high-trust environment, with clarity, care, communication, character, consistency, and competence as the key components

At the NQ Women's Leadership Forum a few ago I spoke about how leaders and organisations benefit when they apply Intersectional Leadership into their daily practise and how crucial it is for advancing gender equality in the workplace, especially for women facing multiple forms of discrimination.
This approach recognises that gender inequality intersects with other factors such as race, ethnicity, disability, socio-economic status and sexual orientation.
Key points on the importance of Intersectional Leadership:
✅ Addresses unique challenges: It acknowledges that women from marginalised groups face specific barriers in their careers, such as feeling invisible and experiencing precarious work relationships.
✅ Promotes inclusive policies: Intersectional Leadership encourages the development of targeted solutions to overcome barriers, such as laws to encourage hiring trans and gender diverse people.
✅ Enhances representation: It helps identify and combat structural inequalities that hinder the professional development of all women, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
✅ Improves organisational performance: By embracing diversity and inclusion, organisations can benefit from a wider range of perspectives and talents.
✅ Uncovers hidden biases: Intersectional approaches help reveal unconscious biases within HR systems that may inadvertently perpetuate discrimination.
By adopting Intersectional Leadership, organisations can create more equitable workplaces that support the advancement of all women, regardless of their background or identity

I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the inaugural NQ Women's Leadership Forum. This wonderful event brought together so many inspirational and strong women and provided a safe and welcoming environment for forming meaningful connections and catching up with friends. Among the wonderful speakers were Jana Pittman and Keesha Morikei Booth - thank you for your insights, vulnerability, and thought-provoking stories. A huge thank you to Dianne Newell for all her hard work in making the forum a reality. I'm already looking forward to next year!
