https://lnkd.in/ekbXtYM9 “If retention and recruitment in foster care are to improve, the system must be modernised. The outdated portrayal of fostering as merely a parenting role no longer attracts carers who seek professional respect and a voice in advocating for children. FosterWiki has long called for an independent licensing body for foster carers, which could transform the system. By giving carers professional status, mobility, and proper support, we can close the gaps that are driving many away. Without bold changes, we risk losing more dedicated carers and failing the vulnerable children who rely on them.” #FosterWiki #FosterCareReform #SupportFosterCarers #ModerniseFosterCare #ChildAdvocacy #FosterCarerRetention #FosterCareChange #ProfessionalFosterCarers #ProtectOurChildren #FosterCareCrisis #FutureOfFostering

https://lnkd.in/eRpavyaE Part of this narrative is how crucial it is to understand that foster carers never have parental responsibility. We are so often pitched as foster ‘parents’, by providers, the government, marketing departments, recruitment drives and organisations with politically driven agendas, however, the reality is we are fostering families, we are foster carers. 👉So let’s celebrate being a very good version of what we are to these children and stop trying to replace their parents, something that causes untold damage, attachment issues, problems in adolescence and breakdowns in foster care. #FosterWiki #FosterCare #FosterCarer #FosteringFamilies

https://lnkd.in/eMkTay5q In a recent FosterWiki opinion piece by Niki Kalisperas, FosterWiki Campaigns Manager, the urgent question is raised Is anyone truly listening to the voices of foster carers? This highlights a troubling culture of neglect and indifference surrounding foster care. Despite the efforts of foster carers to speak out, their concerns are often overlooked. It’s vital to recognise the uncertainties and vulnerabilities faced by children in care and the lack of adequate support for their carers. Addressing these systemic issues is crucial to improving the foster care system #FosterWikiOpinionPiece #FosterCareAwareness #FosterCareRefom #FosterFamily #FosterCarer

Foster parents are needed now more than ever before! According to the Georgia Department of Human Services, in 2023, approximately 11,000 children needed foster parents, but only 4,559 licensed foster homes existed. Christine Fonville with The Champion Newspaper spoke with CHRIS 180 and one of our foster families to learn how our inclusive training is increasing the number of licensed foster homes in Georgia and keeping siblings together. #CHRIS180 #fostercare #fosterparents #atlantafosterparents #atlantanonprofit
