What's involved with Pre-hire Physical Abilities Testing for Truckers? For trucking and transportation jobs, the test will include elements that mimic the job. This likely consists of: Materials Handling: Lifting, pushing, and pulling are often the most difficult parts of the driver’s job. It’s important to test a variety of lifts because different muscles are used for different types of lifting. Mobility: The ability to squat, bend, twist, and crawl is a prerequisite for many drivers’ pre-trip truck inspections. Balance: Climbing in and out of the cab, as well as on and off the trailer, especially when this may be performed in slippery conditions, is mandatory for all driver positions. US/Mexico 🇺🇸🇲🇽Cross Border Freight Transportation | Rail Intermodal | Domestic Truckload Transportation | Landstar Independent Agent
Someone else took this picture and I saved it. God forbid if I did take this picture in the rain while driving in my car, because I don't think Landstar would take too kindly of it because of our safety culture, even though I am not a BCO/driver. 😂 Speaking of the safety culture at Landstar it is something I highly appreciate. It is the standard above anything else. Even before I became an agent here I've always had a great opinion of Landstar when I was an OTR driver. One time I could not get my truck serviced at a TA because they had a backlog of Landstar trailers that needed to have their DOT inspection, and the mechanic said, "sorry man we're booked all day with these Landstar trailers and you know how Landstar is about safety." I didn't get upset, I understood it and appreciated it. Parking lot full of Landstar trailers, staying ahead of DOT safety and keeping the motoring public safe, and ensuring our clients freight gets to the receiver, rather than getting "OOS" and stuck at a weigh station with violations. Every BCO I have interacted with has a level of professionalism that is just different. Reminds me of the old school guys. That's the culture, they want to do things right. Whenever you get an opportunity to have a BCO haul your load, take a moment and realize the difference. So if you've got a load that needs somewhere to go, give it to a Landstar BCO! #Trucking #logistics #freight #freighttransportation #cargo #cargotransportation #Landstar #LandstarBCO #LandstarDrivers #safety #safetyfirst #safetransportation

You only dance with Prom queen twice a day. The importance of a thorough Pre-trip and post trip inspection. Drivers are the Fleet and Shops eyes and ears on their tractor and trailer. Being VERY thorough is the key. Too many times I have seen drivers pencil whip an inspection. This not only jeopardizes the driver and his CDL, but the Company’s DOT number not to mention the general public. The reason for doing the inspections are to put eyes and document needed repairs. This is when the 3 person sign off comes into play. Driver puts the vehicle OOS, mechanic completes the repair, driver puts the vehicle back in service. Safety items should NEVER be e deferred. It’s better to err on the side of caution than to risk a on road stop and inspection.

No Excuses - Just Solutions | Helping the warfighter be successful | Simplifying shipping needs while saving money and time
" A pretty load is a safe load and a safe load is a pretty load" When I was going through Air Assault School learning to sling load cargo from helicopters, this was one of the sayings our instructors would use It meant, if people took the time to make something look good, and not just throw things together, the extra time and "eyes on" would help them make sure everything was done correctly It is the same way when moving freight. As a "recovering flat bed driver" as Tony D. calls it, I love to see tarp jobs that look nice and show the driver took pride in what they were doing I know awkward loads like this can be a challenge to tarp ( I have stood back and tried to figure out what I was going to do in the past), but the driver did it anyway When people care about their freight and want to make sure it gets there the way it looked when it was shipped, they will pay for professional work Aaron Nelson for example posts pictures of his trucks and loads - "Service with Class", but also recently posted a picture of another carrier that didn't care about their equipment or the customer's freight When I was shipping freight, I wanted to make sure it went on a truck that was going to take pride in what they do and get my stuff their safely (and not have it fall off an hurt/kill someone in a car next to them). There is way to keep our highways and freight safe - hire those that know what they are doing and take pride in what they do #ilovewhatido #othersfirst #relationshipsmatter #aprettyloadisasafeload
