I’m thrilled to share my latest post with Ecotrust, reflecting on my hands-on experience working with the Metlakatla First Nation’s Regenerative Ocean Farming (ROF) Project this summer. The ROF project, rooted in sustainability, integrates shellfish and kelp aquaculture to restore marine ecosystems while fostering food security and resilience. On paper, the benefits of ROF, like carbon sequestration, water filtration, and biodiversity enhancement, are compelling. Yet, my time in Prince Rupert, working in the field and engaging with the community, taught me that these concepts are far more complex. This experience has enriched my studies in environmental engineering, particularly in climate mitigation practices. Seeing how ROF addresses critical global issues like climate resilience, ecosystem restoration, and food security solidified my belief in the power of Sustainable Food Systems (SFS) to drive real, lasting change. I invite you to read my full blog post to explore more about how this transformative journey has shaped my understanding of climate solutions and Indigenous stewardship: https://lnkd.in/gFUpJmNZ #climatechange #climateaction #climateresilience #engineering #ecosystemrestoration #sustainability #blueeconomy #carbonsequestration #climatesolutions #kelpfarming #regenerativeoceanfarming #marineconservation #protectouroceans
