Sunday marked ten years since I walked into the Fifteen4 Creative offices for my first day on the job. Ten dang years! I was so excited to find people drinking beer in the afternoon that I took this picture during a client call. (Note to Current Clients: We don't do this any more. Seriously!) I'm profoundly grateful to my brother Steve Smallman, Jr. and his co-founder Kurt Dutra for giving me the opportunity to ditch my non-profit career in NYC and start anew with this incredible agency. And as Fifteen4 celebrates our 20th Anniversary, I'm so proud to have been a part of it for the past ten. I can honestly say that every year has been a unique adventure, for good and for ill. But I've learned that if you work with great people, never settle for competency, and don't fear the words 'in full transparency' coming from clients, you can enjoy the ride no matter what comes. Here's to another 10-spot!
If I was a client, I would only be upset that I was not informed ahead of time that Bohs were a welcomed addition to the creative brainstorming.
Congrats to you Will
What a career, Will. That’s great. I haven’t stayed more than 5 years in any one place, and you’ve done it in a fun place. Note to clients: I accept freelance contracts.
Congratulations Will - awesome milestone! When 'ten years have got behind you...'
Can't believe it's been 10 years!! Congratulations!
Yes, Will! Love this for you.

Congrats Will, and cheers to 10 more !

3wTen years ago I hit Will Smallman up for a big copywriting job (which had been an occasional side gig). He was too busy and turned me down, but then confided that he was considering making a career move. I gave him a book to read (Seth Godin: Linchpin) and had him take the CliftonStrengths test. Of course, all for his own good in his career search. Safe to say–we were lucky to snag him. Ten years later, he's our Managing Partner (pretty much my boss, if ya didn't know) and running this shop better than I ever did. #20yearsofFifteen4
