Last night, I was reading a story to my 6-year-old from Ruskin Bond's collection. The story, "Grandfather and the Ostrich," was an instant hit. As I described the ostrich with its long legs and big beak, I could see my child's eyes light up with excitement. He could vividly imagine the scene and was truly engaged. This experience reminded me of the profound impact storytelling has on young minds. Storytelling isn't just about entertainment, it's a crucial tool for learning and development, especially for kindergarten children. Its so true that children who are regularly told stories develop better vocabularies and language comprehension. In our fast-paced, digital world, it's essential to keep the tradition of storytelling alive. It's not just about reading, it's about creating magical moments that educate, entertain, and inspire. So, let's pick up a book tonight and share a story. The benefits are immense, and the memories are priceless. #Storytelling #ChildDevelopment #LearningThroughStories #Parenting #RuskinBond #Education #Imagination

Hi, I'm Marcy Young, the Children's Programs and Licensing Director at West Midland Family Center. Today, I'm excited to share Life Hack #12: Assume Positive Intent. In our children's programming, we use a social-emotional curriculum called Conscious Discipline, where positive intent is a key skill. We even have kids wear rose-colored heart-shaped sunglasses to teach them to view others' actions and words positively. As adults, this concept requires practice. It starts with believing that others act with good intentions, even if their actions suggest otherwise. Assuming positive intent is about believing in someone's motives. This approach can improve workplace dynamics by promoting trust, better communication, collaboration, and stronger relationships. It can fundamentally change how we see others and our overall belief in humanity for the better. For those wanting to try this life hack, next time you feel slighted by someone, pause and explore the possibilities. Instead of immediately judging their intent, remind yourself that you don't know their reasons. Ask yourself, "What are the possible reasons they responded this way?" Reframing your thinking in this positive way will come with practice. https://lnkd.in/gYTTsFfW 🧡💚 #midlandareawellbeing

*A MESSAGE TO EVERY TEACHER* Be the change. Be part of the success story of that young soul. Be the reason for the smile of that hopeless kid. Let that young soul feel your impact. Lift the demoralised spirit of that student. Let that young learner feel secure under your tutelage. Let that young soul develop trust in you. Revive their lost hope. Shade light to their blurred future. Reignite their energy to face life positively. Do it passionately. Do it beyond classroom teching. You are a foster parent, not just a classroom tutor. You are a counsellor. You are a giver of hope. Be the change!

✨Why do Early Words Matter to Cosy? ✨ Every year, over 185,000 children start school without the essential communication and language skills they need. Without early support, this can impact their confidence, learning, and future opportunities. At Cosy, we aim to change that. We provide teacher-developed resources to help children build important skills, learn through play, and enjoy the fun of childhood. 📖 Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/ezDhfSzt #EarlyWordsMatter #CosyResources #MakingADifference

She said, "I am not afraid of anything." While interacting with 5th graders, a girl confidently said this, and I was stunned. I asked her twice if she had any fears, but she firmly refused. Her bold statement made me question myself. I asked myself why I was so surprised to hear her say she has no fears. Then I wondered, Is it a societal norm to have fears? From a young age, we are conditioned to fear things like the dark, heights, or spiders. But are these fears truly ours, or are they imposed on us? Think about the fear of failure. Would we be so afraid of failing if we weren't constantly encouraged to compete with others and meet certain standards? Society often instills in us the fear of not being good enough, not fitting in, or not succeeding by conventional measures. What about the fear of public speaking? Many of us dread it because we're afraid of being judged or making mistakes. But imagine if we were taught from the beginning that making mistakes is a part of learning and growing, rather than something to be ashamed of. Seeing a child so free of fear made me realize how much our environment shapes us. Are we teaching our children to be afraid? Are our own fears influencing them? Fear is natural, but we need to encourage our children to be more self-aware and to think for themselves. We should help them discover who they are rather than make them accept what is being imposed on them. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
