[img:DS4-TbNbe] The Unlikely Product Guru Elaine starts a blog on her e-comm site about 'Products for the Modern Woman' as a joke. Her sarcastic tips become wildly popular, turning her into an unexpected feminist icon." She gets invited to speak at conferences, baffled by her own success. Elaine struggles to keep her content fresh, resorting to inventing ridiculous products like 'scream-absorbing pillows.' Her fake products start receiving real inquiries for purchase. 'Do you have one in teal?' She starts producing these joke products, becoming an actual trendsetter. Elaine continues her blog, now a mix of genuine advice and absurd products. She embraces her dual role as a guru and comedian, her blog a must-read for the discerning and the amused. Elaine proves that even in e-commerce, a little humor goes a long way. Sometimes, the best products start as a joke. #ModernElaine

Shein is now designated as Very Large Online Platform under the European Digital Services Act (DSA). What does that mean? Shein will need to comply with additional requirements, such as: 👉 More diligent surveillance of illegal products. Shein will need to establish robust processes for risk identification, analysis and mitigation, as well as monitoring, to minimise the risk of diffusion of illegal products. 👉 Enhanced Consumer Protection Measures. Shein needs to produce a yearly report to evaluate the potential adverse effects on consumer health and safety, with an emphasis on the physical and mental well-being of underage users. Their platform needs to be (re)structured to ensure protection of their consumers. 👉 More transparency and accountability. Shein needs to, for example, ensure that its risk assessments and compliance measures are externally and independently audited on a yearly basis, as well as provide transparency reports on its content moderation decisions. The EU Commission can now supervise Shein's compliance. If it fails to comply, it can face a fine of up to 6% of its global turnover. (More on enforcement: https://lnkd.in/dKEdF4BG). We are still miles away from a safe online platforms. Do you think DSA has the teeth to ignite a change in the way platforms operate in the EU, or are the roots of the platform economy too deep for DSA to have any effect? https://lnkd.in/dy3tFp7A #DSA #DigitalServicesAct #AIRegulation #DataRegulation

Zalando's proactive steps to refine its sustainability messaging offer valuable insights into evolving consumer and regulatory expectations. Authenticity in environmental claims is not merely compliance—it's a strategic imperative. By prioritizing transparency and integrity, organizations can build trust and pave the way for sustainable success. 🎁 Simplify Gift-Giving with Insights from the Jam Experiment! 🎁 Ever walked into a store to buy a gift and felt completely overwhelmed by the endless choices? You're not alone. The famous jam experiment by Sheena Iyengar and Mark Lepper, shows that when presented with too many options, people are less likely to make a decision and less satisfied when they do. In their study, shoppers encountered two displays of jam. One had 24 varieties, and the other had just 6. The result? Shoppers were ten times more likely to purchase from the smaller selection. At Shilta, we’ve taken this powerful insight to heart. Imagine trying to find a gift for your client. You browse online, scrolling through hundreds of potential gifts, feeling more stressed with each click. Now, imagine a colleague who has already browsed through thousands of options, narrowing it down to a handful of perfect, thoughtful gifts. I've been sharing a variety of gift items that are made here in the #USA. But everyone has at least one person on their list that would prefer a book over anything else. Rachel Slade's Making It In America details the story of American Roots , a growing apparel manufacturer, facing everyday challenges of producing domestically in a globalized world. This book offers hope for those living for the American dream, offering a personal account of building a small business, all while providing the historical context of manufacturing in America and reality of free-trade economics. https://lnkd.in/gfee7PFm I'm highlighting some amazing products via LinkedIn. Here's why: - Recently, there has been a lot of talk about #politics on #LinkedIn. This will likely continue. But hopefully this post encourages you to talk about a cool product or company instead. Let's get back to business. - It's the holiday shopping season. There are a lot of small businesses making great products right here in the #USA. They need more recognition. Get out there and support them! - Products I highlight fall in one of these categories: 1) I own the personally or gifted it to someone else. 2) It's on my personal wish list. 3) I'm intimately familiar with the product or company (i.e. know the owner, sell their product, have visited their factory, etc.). #MadeInAmerica #GiftGuide

Everyone has been saying that using comedy to promote a women's product DOES NOT WORK. But we learned that it does - when comedy isn't the primary focus. We recently made an ad for The Earthling Co., a sustainable women's shampoo bar. Initially, we prioritized comedy and story over product promotion, and the customer acquisition cost was high. However, we tweaked the edit to flip the focus, and this lowered the CAC by over 50% compared to the first cut. Now, it's one of their top ads. Our lessons learned? 1. Comedy works for women's products, but focus on product promotion. 2. A good story is essential to prolonging watch time. 3. Don't give up on the creative - sometimes a simple reformatting is all that's necessary. Tag a women's brand that could use some comedy in their ads.

5 stars everywhere! How many people look at individual business reviews to make a purchase decision? I did. As an e-comm business owner I struggle with this. We have automated processes to request customer reviews 2 weeks after the product has been delivered. But internally, when we receive a review, we also get to “choose” which reviews are published to our website. We publish all - good and bad. If we made the mistake - we comment on how we corrected it and apologise. If we stuck to our published policies - we comment on that too. The social proof of reviews is absolutely being corrupted. Especially when businesses incentivise for reviews. 🙄 💯 5 stars are BS. If we want social proof of our businesses, we all need to take the good and the bad. If not, it’s total BS and consumers will no longer bother with their time. I’m really frustrated at 💯 5 stars, especially from fast fashion. It’s a cop out. Waste of time and deceiving. I rarely give reviews admittedly. But when my daughter wanted a “macaroni” pizza for her birthday, I rang everywhere to find someone who would make it. A gorgeous pizza restaurant in Brisbane did it AND personally delivered it. That gets 5 stars from me….. even though she actually meant a “pepperon”i pizza! 🤣♥️ #fastfashion #reviews #honestymatters #consumerism #ethics https://lnkd.in/fsHmHpu
