What a Moment for McLaren! 🏆
Congratulations to McLaren for clinching the F1 Constructors Championship! This is more than just a win; it’s a testament to persistence, belief, and an unshakable commitment to growth.
When I started following F1, I never consciously 'picked' a team. I was drawn to McLaren, not just for their legacy, but for their teamwork culture and how they value people. They remind me that you don’t have to be the best at any given moment—you just have to keep learning and growing in the right direction. Nowhere is this personified more than in their drivers. They represent the team with such dignity; proving that you can still be gentlemanly in competition, (for the most part!)
McLaren's ethos has clearly shaped them both. Oscar pushes himself to the limit to win, but he also accepts that it won’t always be enough—it just has to be his best on that day, and he can work on the rest. Personally I feel Lando's always been too hard on himself. This season however, he’s shown how channeling that self-criticism into learning and growth can change your perspective. He doesn’t hide his emotions, and I love that about him. When he’s disappointed, it shows. When he’s annoyed, it shows. And when he’s proud or happy, it really shows.
Every race reflects more of Lando’s genuine character, shaped in large part I'm sure by McLaren and Zak Brown. He’s proving that winning is about so much more than speed and skill. It’s about integrity, trust, and playing for and with your team. That is why for me, he's my champion driver. 🏁🏎️
McLaren hasn’t won this title in years, but they never gave up. Instead, they displayed dedication, energy, patience, passion, and above all, resilience.
Because, as they’ve shown, “You don’t win a Championship on your own. It's with the team” (- Will Joseph). It’s about every team member believing in the vision, pulling together, and proving that persistence pays off.
What a journey—what a team! 👏

In the highest of high-tech businesses, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown had no hesitation in naming the secret behind the phenomenal turnaround in McLaren's racing performance: People!
"It's our people who make the technology," he said straight after the final race of the season. It's our people who drive the cars. It's the people who design our strategy. Our commercial department. HR. It's the people that won this."
In an age of disruptive AI and magic regtech, we like to think BENEFITSCAPE advanced data science is all about the people too. BENEFITSCAPE regtech and AI diagnostics are all about helping clients support, reward, and celebrate their people. And it couldn't do that without the deep benefits experience and expertise of the BENEFITSCAPE team. The people.

The 'FIA Formula 1 Regulations' and associated 'Costs Cap' were implemented to attempt to make Formula 1 fairer and more competitive. Is it possible to even the playing field of this luxury sport with such Regulations, or do the potential fines and sanctions for breach, provide the likes of Red Bull Racing and Mercedes little to be concerned about? 🏎
Grateful to have assisted on the below article with Kavan Bakhda and Tom Fennelly for LawInSport.
Another great weekend of Game 7s, photo finishes and first time winners. Congrats to Lando Norris for his first ever F1 win and McLaren Racing for their first victory since 2012.
And speaking of winners, let's nominate this week's winners of the Nice Guy and Gal Awards.
Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals).
If you want to nominate someone, just shoot me a private message by 5:00 EST on Thursday.
There are only 3 requirements:
1) you have to be connected to the person you nominate
2) you can only nominate one person per week
3) you can’t nominate yourself 😀
If you want to provide a brief reason for your selection, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement.
Let’s recognize people who make a difference simply by being nice.
Have a great day, everyone.

Securing a spot on the coveted Formula 1 calendar packs an economic punch for its host city.
The most financially successful event to date was the first-ever Grand Prix in Las Vegas, which generated close to $1.5 billion in economic value, according to local officials.
But in F1, what happens in Vegas, will not stay in Vegas.
Liberty Media, the owners of F1, have high hopes that race weekends elsewhere will also be of epic proportions.
"When Liberty Media first said we want to make a Super Bowl of every single event, people smiled and I'm not sure they believed. But now with Vegas last year, they believe," said Robin Fenwick, Founder and CEO of Right Formula.

- A New Benchmark: Aston Martin Valkyrie Sets a Silverstone Record -
The pursuit of performance is what drives us—apexes clipped, boundaries pushed. I'm excited to share that the Aston Martin Valkyrie, Astons 1,140 bhp road-legal hypercar, has shattered the production car lap record at the Silverstone GP circuit with an unprecedented time of 1 minute 56.42 seconds. That's over 10 seconds faster than any other road-legal production car.
Born from a collaboration with Adrian Newey during our partnership with Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies, the Valkyrie channels Formula One® engineering into the ultimate road car. Behind the wheel was Darren Turner, a three-time class winner with Aston Martin at the Le Mans 24 Hours and our official high-performance test driver. In Darren's words:
"It blows my mind that this is a road-legal car you can drive to Silverstone and then go faster than the pole lap record in the British GT championship."
It's this unique fusion of road and race technology that propels us into a new era of performance. The relentless passion that defines Aston Martin.

In 1999, James Jones took over a Yale team that hadn't been to the NCAA Tournament since the '60s.
He's now led the Bulldogs to March Madness four times in the past eight years and just beat 4-seed Auburn—Yale's biggest tournament win ever.
"He built this program brick by brick."

Adrian Newey, one of the most brilliant minds in Formula 1, is OFFICIALLY joining Aston Martin in 2025, and the F1 world is buzzing (even though we all kinda saw it coming, right?).
Let’s dig into it. There’s A LOT to unpack.
🛠 What does Newey really bring to Aston Martin?
💥 Could he be the “final piece” for championship glory?
🏁 Or… could this be more of a high-stakes gamble for Stroll’s team?
